terrible radio reception aftermarket head unit 03 sedan

So, I bought an antenna adapter to patch the oem diversity 2 pin connector to a standard aftermarket universal plug. The reception is now terrible. Really bad. Any recommendations to improve radio reception? Is there a different adapter that will retain the diversity function,, or is that a feature of the stock radio? Pretty sure the diversity function is just 2 antennas receiving signal at slightly different timing and combining to make a stronger more complete signal.

The G35 has an antenna signal amplifier from factory. U will get crappy radio reception if you dont supply power to it.

In the factory stereo wiring harness there should be a Green/White wire. That is the power wire for the antenna amplifier. Hook that wire up to the Remote wire coming off the back of your aftermarket head unit.

thanksthanksthanksthanks!

Good call on that. For those searching, and using the scosche kit,, its the solid blue wire on the kit side of the plug. It connected to a green with white stripe on the car side. Some sources say its either green/white, or red/white. Mine was the green/white. I hooked it up to the power antenna lead from the radio, which is also connected to the amp turn on wire for when i get a sub. Yup, now I have radio reception.
