4080 Box, 10w6v2 or 10w7?
I know the 10w6v2 will fit the 4080 box, others have done it andposted, will the 10w7 fit? If so, which is the better choice, considering that money, while not unlimited, isn't too big of a concern?
Also, recommended amps? Looking at a JL 500w/1, or maybe some type of Alpine amp, as IF I ever replace the stock head unit, I will get an Alpine head unit.
Thanks for any help
Dave

I'd have to know the internal volume of the 4080 box. My suspicion is that you'd better off using a W6 or W3.
Find out what the volume of the 4080box and then go to the JL audio webpage and figure out what sealed volume each sub needs. Don't forget to subtract the volume the subwoofer takes up in the box too. Sometimes less is more.

I guess that would have been the easy solution....
Thanks

I know for a fact that a 10w7 will not fit a 4080 box, I have the box and there's no way that it will fit.

I would not power a sub with a JL 300/4. You have 4 channels running to a mono sub. At best you could bridge 4 channels into 2 channels. Hooking up two amps to a dual voice coil sub is not recomended, one amp on each coil. I'm sure you could do it but still it's not very efficient. Speaking of efficiency the 300/2 and the 300/4 are full range class AB amps. They produce very nice sound but are very ineffcient. The sub amps are digital switching Class D amps. The digital-switching amp will be less of a current drain on your car's electrical system. Typical efficiency for AB amps is about 50%, whereas you can get 70-90% from a digital-switching amp.
Some people complain about lights flickering with the music up loud. Take this into consideration when designing your system. My setup is a 300/2 and 500/1 with a 10" W6V2 wired for 8 ohms. 2 ohms was to loud and boomy. It's currently in My Jeep Grand Cherokee and I have no problems, sounds great. Can't wait to hear it in a G.
