What bracket do you use to mount a double din radio in the JDM 2004 G coupe face plate? The installer I went to asked if I could get the JDM brackets as well and I don’t think this is possible. Seems as though this has been done thousands of times - how is everyone doing this?

2004 can use the Scosche kit I think, 2005+ uses the Metra.

They each have their own JDM factory one that can be used as well but they're typically harder to find and more expensive than the aftermarket ones.

The Scosche had pretty good reviews, the Metra for the newer cars was pretty trash overall, it's works but it's UGLY.

It sounds like he's looking for the bracket itself. I've looked into this myself since I bought a JDM bezel for future install (still don't have the HVAC buttons for it). It appears to be this:

What has everyone else used when using the JDM faceplate? I was under the impression this was a super easy swap.

The double din Pioneer radio I have is about the same width as the JDM opening, but it is probably 1cm shorter than the JDM opening.

Cleric - I already have the JDM plate and hvac controller. Wanted to stay as oem as possible.

Just curious where you ended up ordering from; it looks like either choice was going to come from Japan. I have ordered from Japanparts before and they were easy to deal with, even if their website may list things that aren't still in their inventory.

next question is, do you think this one will work with navigation?

I don't know. It looks there are several part numbers since the V35 Skylines had more radio options than the G35. I'm not sure if the nav made a difference too.

You don't need any additional bracket for aftermarket radios. The factory radio bracket has appropriately located holes, and if they're off slightly, drills work wonders on thin metal. I don't know if there's any difference between the brackets at all either. I've done my share of these in 2003-2004, and 2005-2006 models, no bracket needed.

I figured that was the case because I don't normally see the bracket mentioned here. I'm curious if the OP's installer had a specific reason for requesting the JDM bracket.

They looked at a very out of date guide, rather than the "official" one that many (most?) installers have copied from my post.
