I just went through some serious raammatting, deflex pads and daptex in the trunk lid and I'll tell you one thing.... Be careful with the daptex. I used the same stuff as shooter and 2 weeks later it's leaking on my bumper, melted and it's only 75 degrees out. It's for exterior use, too. Still can't figure that all out.

Its non expanding foam that can be used to fill holes. There is a pic of it in the second or 3rd post in the thread. Im actually going to go get some after school today

Update. It leaked out and I took the carpet cover off last night. Leaked out of a hole I didn't plug (cause the trunk release is in it) and slid down to the lowest point. Mind you, I raammatted 7 days after putting in the foam and it's been 16 days since foaming. Car started smelling poisonous yesterday, too. It's for interior/exterior use, too. Kinda wack.

Ah, why not just use expanding foam? It can spread to other areas and deaden those. I used that on my rear quarter panels and it helped a lot in my Accord.

I think I heard that if youre not careful it could expand and push out your panels/trunk lid. If its true that would blowwwww

I don't think that's all that true. There's many guys I know that use expanding foam. It is crucial to do so when doing an infinite baffle install. The foam expands in its soft state. Once it reaches its maximum expanding state then it begins to harden. To make it harden you can even spray some mist of water on it.

Only way it would be possible of it pushing out the panels is if it hardened too quick. I used this one called Big Gap Filler. You can find it at Walmart and it's cheaper than buying at Home Depot.

I did my C pillars, rear deck, rear quarter panels and trunk lid with expanding foam and it did wonders. Just gotta prep the area real well otherwise it can get very messy.

Interesting... The delayed reaction is the thing that I don't get. It expanded, filled all the voids, appeared to harden, but some is finding its way out. If it leaks again I'll take pics.

From what I've learned this evening, I can absolutely say without a doubt DO NOT use the daptex product. It's highly poisonous, can cause serious pulminary and cardiovascular damage. Read this...

Lid is coming off tomorrow for a power wash. And yes, it does make you feel like crap. Some bronchial difficulty at the moment.

Im glad i didnt stop and get some yesterday.

donpisto, how much of the Big Gap Filler did you use for the trunk lid?
what prep work was involved? i might give this stuff a try

Well, I haven't done it on the G. But the trunk lid shouldn't take up all that much. One can is more than enough.

As for prep work, I'd cover all other areas, like the trunk, the body in the rear, the rear glass, or anywhere the foam can squeeze out from. Here's the problem with the trunk though, the trunk release. You want to make sure expanding foam doesn't surround. Not quite too sure how to do it on the G, but for my Accord it was on the bottom so I didn't have anything to worry about.

As for tips, I wouldn't spray it all completely. I would put in a good amount, wait a little, and repeat the process. This way you conserve more and don't have overflow. When you have areas you dont want the expanding foam to come out from, use painter's tape, either the blue or the green stuff. When done spraying the last amount that you need to, put the tape over that part as quickly as you can. Use some gloves as well so your fingers don't get all sticky.

That's about all I can think of, but that should be it.

Well I actually i put e-dead over a large portion of my trunk lid already so most of the holes are actually covered. I was thinking of doing it in stages like you said. Put some in, let it harden, then do the next layer etc. that way its not all sitting at the bottom of the trunk lid. As for the trunk release i have never even used it so if it doesnt work after i fill the space it's not really all that important. I dont normally carry around dead hookers in my trunk anyway haha

I just got some conflicting information from the manufacturer. The material itself should not be toxic, it's basically like latex paint. The aerosol itself is dangerous to your health, but I have assurances that uncured material will not harm you.... Either way, mat well and you're likely 95% as well off as if you fill for this application.

id be careful with edead hanging like that

I have bad expericances with edead sideways on the rear quater panel, in the summer time the adhesive gives and you may be havingto clean up some goo

You can use one of those existing holes for spraying the expanding foam. Or you could do it from one of the openings on the top (make sure to cover the tiny holes).
