Pioneer AVIC-D1/AVIC-Z1 with Double Din Conv. (PICS)
30GB HDD. 20GB for Navigation. 10GB for music.
If you've got an iPod video, you can save yourself hundreds by going with a D3.
Just buy a CD-I200 and integrate your iPod as your music/video harddrive.
Plus, in G35's, the DDin is so low that the shifter often gets in the way of the new headunit's screen.
The Z1/Z2 buttons are all on the bottom whereas the D3 buttons are on the left for easier access to driver.
Although some touch buttons are still pretty low, the D3 is a bit more convenient and cheaper.
People complain about having to take out the Nav DVD to play music in the D3.
I keep my Nav DVD in at all times and play music/video straight from my iPod.
Music quality from the iPod is better than CD's. Plus, I don't have to burn more CD's when I get new songs.
Just take my iPod out, hook it up to my comp, update, and plug back in my glove box.
Plus, the Z1/Z2's got a motorized screen. You've got to make sure your shifter is out of the way when you move the screen.
Should you forget, the screen could hit the shifter, damaging the screen or the screen's motor.
The D3 has no moving parts, so that was another reason why I chose the D3 over the Z1/Z2.
I'm not saying don't get the Z1/Z2. If you really want it, go for it!
Just trying to save you some money and make things a bit more convenient.

D3 is another in-dash navigation headunit offerred by Pioneer, but is a lot cheaper than the Z1/Z2.
Pioneer AVIC-Z2
Pioneer AVIC-Z1
Pioneer AVIC-D3
etc.
FlSHRFun nice install... How did you hook up your audio? Did you bypass the factory sub? I am trying to do the same setup, the avic d3 with factory speakers but in an '04 coupe. Do I bypass the factory amp and connect the speakers directly to the avic-d3? Anyone?
Would the d3 push the bose speakers without the factory amp? I wonder what would happen if I ran audio straight to the speakers. If i get the LOC, it will reduce it to match the bose, I will be getting thesame performance as I do now with the factory speakers.
