Aftermarket Bluetooth Install Questions

I am considering buying an '05 as opposed to waiting for the '06 -- hoping to get a good deal.

My only hold-up on the '05 is the lack of Bluetooth.

Parrot seems to make a great kit that uses the factory radio audio and mutes when the phone rings and the whole bit. The only visible component is a small digital display that shows the caller ID info and such.

Who all has done this? Are you happy with it? Are there products other than Parrot?

Also -- just curious -- may be too early for anyone to know, but will the '06 Bluetooth info display only on the radio, or will it display on the Nav screen too?

Thanks for any and all info!

(Similar thread started in the Coupe forum -- people suggested I re-post here too).

I haven't seen any OEM nav Bluetooth combo that doesn't use the LCD screen for BT.

I have a Parrot in one of our cars (CK3100). Works fine. Installation is a bit tricky, the wiring is awfu for US non-Euro cars. I have a diagram that makes it simpler.

But what handset are you using? Some BT handsets (blackberry and treo come to mind, but there are others, like the VZW Moto 710) that won't pair to certain kits, or won't export the phone book to any kit (you have to get the phone book exported to the ck3100 to get the benefit of the caller ID screen and the dialing from the screen).

So before you buy either verify somewhere that your phone works with that kit, or try it yourself with a demo kit (advice I give for ANY BT puchase). I think the parrot web site has a forum www.driveblue.com.

Not sure if you heard el_duderino, but there was a class action suit that ended in a $$$ settlement for people in VZW with the mot v710. Apparently they advertised the bluetooth feature but failed to mention that it doesn't pair with some devices, as you have described. Something to keep in mind if you or your customers experience this.

El Dude,

Yeah -- I know there will be a separate LCD screen and I am o.k. with that. Where would you suggest mounting it?

I have a new Blackberry 7100t.

I'm not sure that you read me right. I assumed that you knew about the screen.

But now that I know which handset you have, I gotta tell you, all that LCD screen will get you is a caller ID number string, I think. That handset does not export the phone book in my experience.

I would use the CK3000 and eliminate the screen and save money.Everything else should work fine.

Yeah, in googling some stuff I think you are right about the phonebook on the Blackberry.

Is there any other way to get phonebook entries into the unit? Could I pair my wife's phone and push the entries in -- then have the benefit of them when paired with the Blackberry?

What would be an approximate cost on the hardware and installation of either system, if you don't mind saying?

We sell the 3000 for about $190 uninstalled and the 3100 for about 260 uninstalled.

You can probably get lower prices from those some who.... some place on ebay with no clue and no nice building to pay rent on.

What would be a fair range for the installation? I would come let you do it but I am on the lower right coast!

Is it possible for you show your connection diagram here as I am planning a Ck3100 in mine soon?

Thanks

Does your 7100 export phone book data to the Raytel?
