Here is what I am doing:
1 600W 4-channel amp
Replacing front components with DA661's
Putting 12in sub in trunk and cutting power to the rear deck speakers and rear fill speakers.
I plan on bridging two channels for the sub and using the other two for the front components.
Now, given this setup do I still go for the 4ohm?

I've been happily installing Alpine Type Rs in several cars recently. 2 12" in an expedition. 2 12" in an accord. I've got a test box in my trunk right now (05 sedan) with a single 12" type r. This sub has absolutely blown me away as the best bang for the buck. JL w3 doesn't even come close. I'd put this up close to W6 level in terms of SQ and response. The new 05 Type R design is far superior to the previous 1241D model.
The expedition had 2 w3s before and when I told my customer that the alpine type rs will hit better and sound cleaner than the JLs he had he wouldn't believe me. I told him I guarantee you'll like them that much better. Needless to say he's another satisfied customer. For the money... $130 isn't a bad price for a nice sounding sub. I'm really like the Type R compared with my solobaric 12".
