Re: Sat Radio

There are 2 satellite service providers, XM and Sirius. I don't know the difference between them, but basically, they each have their own satellites, their own programming, and their own payment plans.

Delphi is a brand of audio equipment, much like Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, etc. A Delphi (or any other brand unit) will be either XM or Sirius based.

Re: Sat Radio

One of my cooworkers has XM and picked it over Serius because of the programing choices, surprisingly he found the sound quality to be very good!!
Price is also a couple of dollars cheaper per month.
Good luck on your choice!

Re: Sat Radio

Ryoken is correct in his post. I just wanted to add a comment about using the prewired Infiniti SAT head radio vs. using a Delphi system. I looked carefully at Delphi as I liked their bigger screen and the portability feature. Use the unit in your home as well as the car. There are two methods that the Delphi units use to get the signal into your head unit. One is through wires that would dangle out of your tape player. It works, but certainly is not very attractive. The second method is through FM modulation. Here, they transmit over one of three frequencies that you would choose during the setup process. In my area, (San Francisco) there is a mega watt station that completely dominates the 88.5 frequency. I took the time to listen to the other two frequencies, and found that I could hear transmissions on these two as well. That convinced me that the sound quality would be very poor, and I accordingly, chose to install the OEM XM radio myself since my G35c was prewired for SAT. The choice between Sirius and XM was decided by merely looking at he playlists of the channels offered. 98% of what I wanted was without commercials on XM, and they were $3.00/month cheaper than Sirius.
