DIY radar -> mirror cable?

I can't find where to learn what wires connect to what, when doing the radar clean install to the homelink mirror wires. Can someone point me to a link or let me know?

The Black/Pink wire is +12v ignition. The Black wire is ground. They are located next to one another if looking at the back of the plug that connects to the mirror.

Do you need a fuse on the cable to protect the radar detector?

The wire going to the mirror is already fused. It should be more that enough. I don't think the hardwire kits you get OEM have fuses on them.

I will check my 8500 and let you know. I would highly recommend just getting a premade cord from invisicord.com I have one and it was awesome and the guy who makes them is awesome. TeamSpeed is his name here on the forums. If you do order one, be sure to note in your order that it's for the G35, he has to make one with smaller contacts than usual for the G35.

You would have to run a power wire to some place that has power...

For the DIYers, when you hold the phone plug away from you with the release tab facing down, the two inner wires are the ones that power the detector. The rightmost inner is positive and the leftmost inner is negative.

Or you can buy my Invisicord (hint,hint!)!

Yeah but in my case I looked at it as $13 vs. having to cut wires on my brand new car. A no brainer at least to me.

exactly. either I permenantly cut wires and pray I get it right the first time or my mirror is messed up and then forever have spliced wires (if I go to sell or trade the car in this could be an issue) or $13 for a wire that takes < 5 min. to connect and I can return the car to stock at any point. no brainer for me either especially after I just spend $27k on a car. That would be 0.000482% of your car's total cost.
