For someone who has sat in an Acura TL (new)

What is it with their sound system that makes it so much better than ours? (comparing best Acura TL audio option, to best G35 audio option)

Just plain better quality components all around? Or do they have some components we dont have...

First off, it's not a Bose.

The 5.1 sound is not better than stereo per se but it has required them to use a better amp and drivers to get 5.1 certification, I suspect.

The Acura TSX audio system sucks and so does the RL - the TL is a special animal...

I had an 04 TL. The 5.1 channel is as far beyond our bose system as the G35 is beyond a nissan sentra. It can be a hard system to modify because of the center channel. The clarity of the TL's audio system IS STUNNING !!! With a DVD Audio disc it will blow you away, with a CD it's awesome. It's made by panasonic, designed by Elliot Schiner. Mostly though it isn't that they have more, BOSE's Sh*tty active EQ leaves us with less.

BTW, In most aspects I prefer the G to the TL, however the audio is way inferior to the TL.

They just have a better audio system all around. They market the 5.1 surround as one of the major highlights of the car, and it certainly is. I almost bought the TL until most of my friends convinced me it was an "Old man's car"

Well, my father recently purchased a fully loaded TL, and the audio system just blew me away. Like you said CMT, once you throw a DVD audio dics into the mix, well, "wow".

The BOSE system they put in the FX with the center channel is light years above the G's system. So Bose can do it, they just didnt do it for the G

It's not too hard to mod, just requires an audio Control EQS, a Clean Sweep, or the new Rockford 360.

The TL has a sweet system for a factory setup. However, it isn't tuned properly IMO and they didn't put in a proper processor. I hate factory tuned stuff. They don't allow you to adjust individual speaker gain aside from the center channel. No pink noise generator. For regular 2 channel audio, I have a feeling it uses a Pro Logic I processor, instead of II. It still blows away the G system though.

My friend has a TL and sweats it like nobody's business. After he heard the 5.1 system I put in my G, he says his sounds like crap by comparison.

it is also the positioning of the speakers. in the acura tl the speakers are angled towards the passengers. in our car the speakers are in really bad locations and the speakers are at terrible angles. we need good speaker pods that angle the speakers more towards our direction.

Unfortunately the same could "almost" be said of a wal-mart boom box...

I don't know if any of you have heard the M45 with the DVD power flip down screen. I belive it is a 14 speaker bose system with speakers even in the front seats. I have heard the TL as well, but the M45 has got it beat in my opinion.

I too had a 04 TL that I sold for my G35 coupe. I totally agree with you with everything you stated. The DVD-A demo disc is awesome, it really shows off the system. IMHO, 5.1 works well for car audio, which in turn makes the sound quality sound better than stereo. If the G's had DVD-A it would automatically sound better even using the same speakers, IMO.

I enjoy driving my G over the TL (there's no comparision), I can always improve the audio system. I liked the TL but I love my G.

Mark
