A question along the same subject. If you were to have the subs firing into the cabin but with the rear seat up, would that affect the sound terribly? I mean would the seat dampen the bass volume?
Also, I don't have the bose option so I don't have those rear deck mounted speakers. Does that mean my trunk is completely sealed from the cabin?

if they fire the subs into the cabin they need to take extra steps to completely seal off the top deck and make it secure.
a lot of audiophiles argue for firing into the cabin and i have seen illustrations and what not to back up their point of view, others say firing back is better, all those guys have their own schticks.
go on google and search "should subs fire into the cabin" bet you get a good answer

I have a 4080 box (fires into the trunk) and there is a noticible increase in spl with the seat down. Not a huge amount, but noticible.
If you are interested in clean, tight bass, I suggest you also work on sound deadening to decrease rattles and vibration. It amazes me how much sound quality is lost in a "live" car.
What does "corner load" mean?

More on firing back or front:
the way it was explained to me
if you fire into the cabin, some of the bass waves still travel to the back of the trunk then bounce back forward and come in out of phase with the rest of the bass. Something like 80% goes through and 20% bounces off the back of the trunk and comes in out of phase.
Some argue that if you fire into the trunk it bounces back in phase, but I think you will still get some bass coming around the box initially that never bounces off the back of the trunk and then you will be even more out of phase.
Maybe some1 with a little more expertise can state this more clearly, or shed more light on it, but that is more or less what i was told.

I went with the subs towards the cabin. The bass is tight. There is hardly any diff. with the seat up or down. I would love to listen to a G with 4080 or Zenclosure to see how much diff. there is, but there are no other G's in my town. My Nickelback CD sounds awesome but the rap and hip-hop does not have the boomy, lingering bass that my Tahoe once had. I still have some adjusting to do on both the amps go get the input levels where I want. I went with Kappa comps in the front, Kappa 3 way in the rear deck...both sets run with an Infinity ref. 540 watt amp. The 2 subs are Infinity Kappa Perfect 10vq ran by a 1200 watt Infinity mono sub amp CLASS D. I disconnected the 2 rear floor bose. ( For now I still have the fac. head unit, replacement of the HU will be in June). Sounds pretty darn good though, I just wish I could hear someones subs firing to the trunk.
