4080 box sub fitment help

hey guys, I want to start upgrading my audio with a sub and amp install on the stock head unit. I did a little research and know that I need line out converters to be able to do this. I don't think I'll be doing this myself but is there an install page out there for sub amp install on stock HU? For people who had this installed professionally how much did it cost you guys just for the sub and amp install?

more importantly I like alot of bass so I'm thinking of the Alpine Type X sub but it does have a rather large magnet and not sure if it will even fit into the 4080 box from pictures it looks very snug which is good because I don't want to lose the entire trunk to subs.

Any thoughts or input?

It might help you if you posted which car (sedan, coupe) and what trim stereo (stock, Blose) you have if you want someone to respond with meaningful answers. You don't necessarily need a LOC. It depends. I suggest you start with some research at one of the many car audio forums that are out there to educate yourself on the basics. It will also help you figure out if an installer is ripping you off or if he's being reasonable. Install costs vary widely depending on the level of effort required to do the install. This is not limited to custom work, exotic materials, and creative design work done by the installer. I would suggest word of mouth or ask them for a sample/portfolio of their past work.

Good Luck!

Thanks... I forgot to add those details... sometimes I just overlook the simple things.. This is regarding a coupe and the stock non bose head unit.

Anyone know if the Alpine X would fit into the 4080 box however?

I'm not trying to get any custom work done... I'm buying the sub, amp, and sub box from different sources.. I just want them installed without replacing the stock HU.

From what I have been reading (new to the G35 scene) if you are using a JL amp, it had a built in LOC. So you just have to tap the RCA from the OEM amp.

The Type X will be too deep. The Type R works really well. Get two!

Just finished installing an Image Dynamics IDMAX10 v3 D2 in a 4080 enclosure. Needed to add 1.5" of spacer rings to accommodate the huge magnet assembly of the IDMAX. Just wanted to share a couple of tips. The 4080 box easily has room for a 3/4" spacer ring to add additional depth and still use the provided flush-mount grille. I used a painted Polk Audio Momo grille for this application (kept color scheme of Volk GT-7s). Thanks for the group buy 4080. The enclosure is top notch!
