I have: 2005 G35 Sedan
I installed: PA15-NIS for my iPhone4.
This is what I did: I had the charging/connecting cable to come out of the ashtray by removing the actual ash/cointray, the lightbulb+casing/box that lights the ashtray, the metal plate off of the back of the ashtray, the clear plastic piece that lets light into the cointray area. this allowed me to slip the cable into the ashtray and into the back/bottom of the radio, and imo, have a more convenient location for the cable and thus the iphone4.
If anyone wants me to post pictures, I can.
Also, I plan to get a mount (center mount from proclipusa) and a holder (Type S AC01994-60 from Amazon). I'll post how that worked out because I heard the 3GS didnt fit the holder because it would slip at the bottom.

Excellent instructions! Even though my year differed and the procedure is way different (g35ipod.com for great instructions on an '03 install btw) it is still nice to see such an excellent write up with perfect pics!
I just installed the USA SPEC PA15-NIS module to my system so that I can retain stock stereo and steering wheel functionality. So far it works well but there seems to be bugs needing trouble shooting. So long to my audiophile system from my last ride, the G's trunk is just too dwarfy to fit an amp, sub and groceries.

Yes, you can use a 3.5mm to RCA Y cable to connect the droid to an AAI-NIS2, but you won't get power in any way from it, so you'll still need something to keep your droid juiced.
