n00b TPMS + track wheel question...

Sorry for the n00b question, but here goes anyway...

I'm considering going to the TX Z Party in a few weeks and my 240SX race car is still in pieces. If I go, I'll be putting the G on the track for the first time.

If I take a set of my track wheels with me, will the car freak out and go into stupid mode without seeing the TPMS? (I've heard horror stories)

I don't care about beeps or lights- I just want to be able to run my track wheels on the car without it going into a limp mode.

Never had to worry about it before since my S14 doesn't have any stupid electronic nannies.

Thanks!

Hey Matt!

'bout time you took the G to the track, but i totally understand why you don't... having the 240 and all.

I can tell you, at least on the 2nd gen, the tpms is a non-issue at the track -- i've ran the car at MSR a handful of times and haven't had any issues.

The OEM wheels and sensors have been off the car since day 1.

I've run for a long time w/o sensors in. Lights on but no limp mode!

Thanks guys. Mike, I've wanted to put it out there just to see what it'll do, but it's hard to put it on track when I have the 240 that's so much fun.

(I wouldn't ever think of going 5 wide at TWS in the G!!!)

Three calls to local Infiniti dealers today got 3 different answers:
1. "NOOO!O!!! UR CAR WILL BLOW UP!!! YOU MUST REMOVE AFTERMARKET WHEELS IMMEDIATELY AND BRING THE CAR BACK FOR A FULL DIAGNOSIS." [click]
2. "Tracking a G35? We won't tell you anything so we can't be held responsible."
3. "You'll get a light and a beep and nothing else happens. you'll be fine."

Thanks again for the input guys. Makes me feel better that I didn't get the typical 'UR GONNA DIE!!!' response with such a simple thing.
Looks like the G's first track day (well since I bought it from Josh anyway) will be at Eagle's Canyon at the TX Z Party. watch out for understeer!

Yeah, i've drooled over your 240 since i saw it at the last Z party. Been wanting to join it again this year but it's a bit out of the way for the fam to travel with me. Maybe next time

So, who's door #3? Seems like a decent dealership based on their response. LOL@ the first two.
