Guys just a note, if you are going to change tires and want to change colors you can get them powder coated, a lot harder finish (won't chip, etc) and lasts a lot longer! There are plenty of powder coating shops around that do this type of stuff.

To get the factory color, would I need to use a black primer with a silver spray?

the dealer will not release the factory color for obvious reasons. dont try to match it, it wont work.

Wow that's grimey of them, I think I will use reg silver so I can have some clean looking wheels for the winter. If I remember correctly long time ago someone on the forum had a pretty good match with some sort of silver from a pathfinder... -l'm not sure how graphite would look on a DP coupe so I'll probably just go with silver

I liked what ya did so much , I did it myself and I never thought I would be done.It did turn out great though and I've received complements left and right. Thanks for the idea.

When I sprayed them I did the back first ,then went in a circular motion around the outside of the rim's lip, then began on the outer part of the spoke go toward the center cap . Be careful on my last rim the was a slight build up with the clear coat leaving a milky ring around the center cap. Not noticeable unless I pointed it out to you .There like having new rims without the new rim cost

04 DP Cpe , Smoked tails , de-badge , Full greddy BK, w Graphite OEM 17's

I did my rays in flat black since I have a DG coupe, using your instructions....looks pretty hot, but I am going to try the darkest gray I can get when it gets warmer......since I don't like the flat black look as much as I thought I would. Sanding is a must between coats if you use multiple coats, since light coats tend to come off easily - I used 5 coats, and NO clear. No chipping issues even in the winter with the snow and everything else.

The important thing is getting ALL of the road grime off before painting, which means using an airgun to dry if you want to get started right after washing. Otherwise you'll get lots of flaking.
