to get a good finish, spray the grill gloss black, clear coat it, and let it cure overnight. after 24 hours, give it a few dust coats of killer chrome, wipe off the excess coating, and let it sit for an hour. you can then give it another few coats of clear.

you'll get the best results if you get the grill as smooth as possible and don't use too much killer chrome. also, apply the killer chrome in the day time so you can see whether you're applying too much.
Thank you sir.

that's a good point, and honestly, I don't know if anyone has done this in a coldweather climate. people have had good results with the fiberglass impregnated fillers though - that should hold up pretty good regardless of the weather.

I just finished up my grill. It's not perfect so I'll probably fix it up more at a later time (no time during school).
Sorry for the crappy picture

Here's mine after the first coat of primer... can't wait to get this thing done so i can get the ugly gialla grille OFF my car!!!

This is my first time working with bondo and i think i got it almost perfect. It'll be painted Satin Black with a matte clear when it's all done

Thanks for the DIY Marcus and Chris, great job!

i definitely will. I need to get another OEM grille, i want to paint it silver like Marcus did. I would have done this one silver, but i messed up cutting the back out so i have to do it black to hide the imperfections.

^Well it's a little to low for me to be able to get into the parking structure at school so I swap back and forth and for the moment the K2 is mostly a show/meet bumper.

Is this what you used on your grill? I really like how yours came out.

yeah, i used killer chrome, but did not clearcoat the topcoat. its much more reflective that way, but its not as durable so i use a 'beater' emblemless grill for DD.
