I'm going to go ahead and post the disclaimer

~ This a very easy and simple DIY but you will get very annoyed and frustraded. This DIY can take a while (I'm still not done)

First, make sure you're pin stripes are on top of the paint like a sticker.. You cannot perform this DIY on painted pin stripes.

Things you will need:

Blow/Hair dryer
WD-40
Bug and tar remover
finger nails
patience!!!!!


Now, here's how to take off those nasty pinstripes.

1. Get some WD-40 and spray it all along the car over the pinstripes.



2.Let the wd 40 sit for a couple minutes. This makes them come off like butter.

3.Now take the hair dryer and warm up the pin stripes

4. Using your finger nail pick at the ends of the pinstripe. Pick about 1 cm off and start peeling slowly and carefully



Note: The pinstripe will rip at a certain point when peeling.. Some times you will get long peels (my longest was about a foot) and sometimes you will get small 3-4 inch peels.

You WILL have stubborn parts that wont come off.. Just pick at these as much as you can.. All my finger tips are very sore from this because of the heat from the hair dryer and it was very hot out. These stubborn spots will get very annoying.

Sweet spots: What I like to call sweet spots are where the pinstripes start and finish.. You will always get a good long peel from these spots.

If you are stuck somewhere in the middle with a stubborn part then go ahead to the other side of the pinstripe and start peeling from there to get a long peel again.

5. After you've gotten all of them off you're going to have some sticky glue residue... Take some of that Bug and tar spray and spray it over the glue leftovers.



Let it sit for about a minute ( hot climates, 30 seconds because this will dry into your paint.



6. Wipe it off- repeat this until all the residue is gone.. I still have a bit of shadowing so I'm going to continue this step then go for a clay/polish and wax.

WD-40? Just hit it with a heat gun it comes right off. Clean with a silicone remover, its pant safe and then wax.Im sure Nissan would frown on WD-40 on the paint.lol

 

I have another WD-40 DIY coming in a bit...

Its fine. Just make sure you wash it off.

WD-40 not necessary.

Hair dryer and some patience, grab some Goo-Gone and a towel and the residue is gone...

 

I can't tell if mine is painted... it has the Infiniti symbol... i looks kinda like a pin-stripe but its soooo hard to take off...

used hairdryer... no luck... it's really really on there!

 

Wanna bet? Go take off pin stripes from one side of the car without wd40 then do the next side with and then come back and post here.

Goo Gone does not get all of it off.. I still have shadowing from the pin stripes.

 

Post some pics... Run your finger nail over the pin stipes.. do you feel a bump?

 

Well bud, I can't go take one side off with WD and one side without because I already removed both sides with my fingernail and a hairdryer, used goo gone to remove the residue and all in about 90 minutes.

Not a spot, streak or shadow...

I do agree 100% with everything else you said though!!!

 

fastest and easiest way--go to bodyshop supply store and get a rubber pinstripe remover. it looks like a big eraser and attaches to a drill. 30 seconds per side to get adhesive pinstripes off. painted pinstipes must be buffed off with a light compound.

 

My stripes are painted on. I thought they all were.
