Stillen say bars question....please help

As I understand it Stillen sway bars have 5 settings. ( soft, soft/med, medium, Med/hard, hard )

My current setup at soft front. I want to try soft/med for the front now. Here is my question, to get the front sways to the soft/med setting does it matter which side ( driver or passanger ) gets the soft and whcih side get med?

Driver side (soft) + passanger side (med) = soft/med

Diver side (med) + passanger side (soft) = soft/med

Is this true? Does it matter which way I go? Thanks for you input.

I was under the impression, they were talking soft for the front and medium for the rear. As in both front sides being the same and both rear sides being the same.

I'm running hard/hard (Hard front/Hard rear)

Exclamation

The Stillen bars are 3-way adjustable, not 5 (and anyway, with that logic, they would be 6-way adjustable... soft/soft, soft/med, soft/hard, med/med, med/hard, hard/hard). You need to have both end links the same on the front and the same on the rear. Where did you get the notion that you would ever want to set one side of the bar different than the other? FWIW, I have mine on front med, rear hard.

From the Stillen website:

http://www.stillen.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=304350

"Both bars are 5-way adjustable, allowing drivers to adjust the ride from 7% to 70% stiffer than stock..."

For each bar it ought to be (#1)soft/soft, (#2)soft/med, (#3)med/med, (#4)med/hard, (#5)hard/hard from left to right or vice versa. No soft/hard setting since the end link length difference would be too much making it difficult to put the bolt through the hole. Some folks suggest that you need adjustable end links for the "half" settings, but I've used setting #4 on the rear for a year with no problems.

Since then, I've lowered the car with Tein 350Z H-techs and the rear needed to be stiffer to compensate for the +3% roll stiffness to the front. So now I have the front on #1 and the rear on #5.

Thanks firefox, I stand corrected. Interesting concept though, setting one side of the bar stiffer than the other... wouldn't that cause the car to handle differently depending on which way you're turning (imagine having different tires: 215 on the left, and 225 on the right, theoretically resulting in an average 220 tire width... a compromise between fatter and skinnier, but I would think that would throw the dynamics off a little)

Remeber, the sway bars act as a torsion bar, not directly attached to the frame of the car (other than through the bushings), but rather acting on the end links. So the bar doesn't really act differently on one side of the car than the other.

my settings are med./med front , med./hard rear. Rear passenger side is on hard rear driver set on med. No problems so far......you cant really notice how great it is til you take a freeway exit going 100 and the slip light doesnt turn on at all
