Cutting OEM Springs

I did a search and didn't find anything about this. Has anybody done this before? In lowering our G, since we always want close to stock, would it be possible to just cut a portion of the stock springs instead of replacing it? Start at 1.5" off the tip until desired height is achieved. It would seem logical, right? I am sure the ride should be the same as stock except it's lowered. What do you guys and gals think?

Cut 4 coils off, and not take off the tires and rims when you do it. just jack up the car and cut them from there. easy

Don't do it. If your cheap, buy some 350z springs for $50. Much better idea.

I already had the 350Z H-Tech installed yesterday at Creative Works in San Diego (Thanks James and Del). However, the idea came when I put the H-Tech and the OEM spring side by side. The H-Tech is a little bit shorter as compared to OEM spring.

spring rate will determine ride height too, not just the length of the coils in a
relaxed state.

Dang....if you can't afford a set of $150 springs...i don't know how you manage to own a G35. The last time I'd heard these ideas was in a civic forum where the majority demographic were dependent kids. I say just don't do it if you can't afford to do it properly.

Albeit $150 is not chump change, it doesn't take long to save over a span of several paychecks. Just eat like your in college for a couple weeks and there you have it.
