Had a wheel bearing go out.

I took the car in to the dealer yesterday for rattle in the suspension and it turned out to be the front driver side wheel bearing. That is one thing I have not seen go out on very many G's.

They fixed it under warranty which I was happy with since I have 20's, springs, sway bars, BBK, etc. I figured they would argue with me over it but they were cool.

Yeah, havent heard of that too much.

When you go to the dealer do they say anything about your car? Compliments or anything?

Yeah the rep told me there was a croud around my car all day. He asked if they could park it out front the next time I come in. I said sure. When I took it there in the morning I told him when they go drive it to make sure and let the oil warm up first and turn the VDC off. Otherwise I didn't care, if they break it they buy it.

you're right...you were lucky. Most dealers would blame the extra weight you have on the wheels as the culprit. Nice to hear you had it done under warranty.

Thanks.

There was a rattle noise from the front driver's side when I went over any kind of bumps. That was the only clue I had.

I'm not sure how this is related, but i recently took my car in to the dealership to fix that infamous clicking noise that came whenever i released the clutch into 1st and 2nd gear. To my surprise, they were able to fix the problem under warranty by repacking my wheel bearings. At least, that what it said on my invoice. I have no mods on my car, btw, but I do have 30k miles. Anyways I can finally roll down my windows and not have to hear that annoying clicking noise.

I had a wheel bearing go out when I hit a huge rock (landscaping size) with the passenger front tire passing on a 2 lane hwy going about 95. Not fun. That rock must've weighed about 30 lbs and it went flying into the air - if there had been someone following behind me they would've been toast!

The entire wheel developed some play (you could grab it while on a lift and wiggle it) and a slight turn (like a lane change) would cause a droning noise.

The techs couldn't figure it out - I had to take it to a local suspension expert and he diagnosed it in 10 mins for $20. Took his report back to the dealer and they replaced the wheel bearing under warranty. They said running over a rock at hwy speeds should not have damaged it and covered it no questions asked. I might've failed to provide details on the size of that rock, ahem. Anyway problem gone.
