New rotors- slotted vs. drilled- Opinions??

Hi all,

Just turned 43K on my '03 6m/t coupe; still loving it and no problems. Just put my snows on, but will be ordering summer tires, brake pads (2nd replacement) and rotors (1st replacement) from tire rack within the next couple of months. Replacement rotors for Brembo come either drilled or slotted. Drilled look the best (I think), but tire rack site says drilled not for track runs, not for use with certain performance pads, and not warranteed against warping. Slotted (look good but not as good as drilled) not saddled with any of those limitations. Now, I'm not taking it to the track, but pad limitations and warp potential worry me. Looking for opinions from you- especially if you've put on new rotors. What do you think?? Thanks.

If you are going to track your car you will want slotted. Drilled crack with track use. I have seen this on all brands of rotors with extended track use. The holes cause weak points in the rotor.

I actually heard it was the other way around. That the slotted ones would crack first since they are already slotted across the rotor, but then again i have no clue just going by word.

No, I have seen this over and over in person. Drilled will crack way more. Drilled are better looking and I tend to go for them but I don't track my car anywhere near as much as my friends.

i've heard the same thing. slotted holds up better than drilled under high stress.

Drilled are for looks. Get those if you are not tracking it, or get both.

I have the StopTech slotted.

you know what i don't understand ... if drilled rotors suck so much for the track... then why do high end manufacturers like porsche, merc amg, ferarri, aston, etc... all fit them on their cars? my boss used to own a vanquish... he used to track the car quite frequently... and never ever had any problems with his brakes.

Same thing I was thinking. Anyone care to elaborate on this?

Slotted, because the drilled ones crack. Slotted rotors have longer lives than drilled ones anyways, and I would say for performance breaking slotted are the best.
