ok so im having brake problems again....
ok so im having brake problems again....
i know the brake issue has been gone over and over again... been around a while, just looking for advice/course of action...
my 2005 X has 21500 miles on it.
background:
at around 13k miles i brought my car because of the brakes squealing and they said they would do nothing for me. Went to a different dealership (inf of massapequa) and they did a "goodwill" and did new front pads and shaved rotors.
yesterday, at around 21.5k miles i go to the dealership for oil change and they tell me i need new front brake pad AND rotors, as well as pads and rotor shaved in the rear.
am i in the right to say that my X still had the same brake problems as the 03-04's? I thought that this was true from what i have read, but was wondering if there was anything new on this. What should my course of action be? do i have a leg to stand on?
I dont mind paying for the brakes myself, thats not the problem... im not trying to weasel anything out here. but if i am entitled to this, i should get the full treatment, shouldnt I? should i contact infiniti corporate? any service departments in the NYC metro area willing to own up to this and do the right thing or do they all say the same thing that "the brake warranty only applies to the 03-04's"
let me know guys.... any advice would be appreciated

03 and 04 gs are the only ones with known brake issues. In 05 and up they went with bigger brakes and do not offer the same silent recall for pads and rotors. After 12 months or 12,000 miles you are on your own and it is considered a regular wear and tear item. Best bet is just upgrade from the factory stuff to drilled/slotted rotors and better pads. Heavy on the brakes is what wears them out so fast.
all of the "x" marked g35 sedans had the 03-04 brakes on them. Why that is i have no idea..but if you look at the part numbers for the rotors and pads..they will make the old style.

yeah, the '05 X still had the same brake system as the '03-'04 RWD sedans. but do they use the same pads? if so that sucks that the '05 X doesn't get the same warranty treatment.

I just went through the same thing. First started at 14k miles, they said it was nothing just cleaned it and it was fine. Then started again a thousand miles after, stopped by dealer at 19k and they told me i need new brake pads and rotors. Also stated that infiniti brakes are only suppose to last 15k miles and how I was LUCKY that it lasted 19. At the end, I ended up buying the parts and had someone do the work for me. I emailed infiniti corp. no one got back to me.
some bull**** right?
now that im realizing this... it pisses me off even more because im giving this car back in 6 months cause my lease is up...
I should just put up oe replacement rotors on and just standard brakes... i dont see a reason to get anything upgraded

I'm not a dealer technican nor do I work for Nissan or any dealer ...........stands for technology.........I am an automotive engineer and this screen name has been used on Inet for the past 8 years.
The point is your total agreements are with Nissan N.A. and it's sub Infiniti.
A dealer will bill Nissan for what it can get away with [believe me dealers stretch the billing to the limit], however the VIN will be rejected as noncomforming if out of range.
If you are rejected for Nissan billed service you must take it up with Nissan.
That means meeting with the Nissan Zone Technicans or Zone Managers who make the rounds at dealers setting up meetings with unhappy customers.
Blaming dealers for a poor design that doesn't hold up to certain drivers is an absolute waste of your time!
You can sue Nissan and its sub in court if you can prove your case that a wear item wears too fast.
Any trained engineer that looked at the front rotor thickness vs vehicle weight would see the problem.
These same problems were first noted in 2002.
