Tokico D-Specs

So what settings is everybody running here? I'm looking for a plush ride so I'm going to turn it to the softest setting front and back. Just curious to see what everybody else is running.

Eibach Springs. DSP 7 shocks/struts... so far I found a setting of 2.5 to the best handling without sacrificing too much comfort. 0 being the stiffest and 7 being the softest.

I had Tein S Techs before and because the spring rates in the rear were too soft... I could not get the car to handle well. I played with all settings and it seemed that I was compensating for the weak spring rates with super stiff suspension settings... but it would end up rebounding too hard and cause car to prematurely slide.

what are you running?

I think for daily driving I was running something like 4-5 turns from full stiff, front/rear.

Agree. I was questioning my settings too with all the softer settings I saw. My car was bouncy and couldn't handle well until I stiffened it up. As quoted above, I have mine at 2.5 F / 2.5 R and its the best compromise between "bouncy" and "comfort"

Have only done some Mountain runs and it seems so far to handle fairly well... but I'll get it out to track here soon and see how well it performs in comparison to my E46 M3.

mine is set at stiff all around on tanabe df210 and it feel prety good and handle really well...i once set the front to 3.5 turns from stiff and it was way too bouncy for my taste so i went back to stiff on the front.

Update: With each more aggressive drive/autocross (still on street tires and not track tires), I am finding a more and more stiff setting to give the best turn in and neutral feel. I still get a bit of understeer on turn in.

Current settings are: (F) 2.0 Turns (R) 1.0
Front and Rear Sways at Stiffest Setting.

What are everyone's sway bar settings in relation to your D Specs?

Also, while the rebound force is a little more solid... the stiffer settings get rid of that "bounce" that can be annoying on a high speed curve and you get a "dip" or "bump" in the middle of the apex due to road imperfections.

Compared to the E46 M3, its these unnerving bounce in the middle of the apex on imperfect roads and slow recovery that reminds me of the weight of the G35 Coupes. Combine that with the slight understeer on entry to a curve and that's my only complaint compared to the M3. I love all cars, but this is where I admit that BMW has their R&D down in the suspension dept. You almost get your cake (superb handling) and you get to eat it (Minimal loss of comfort during daily drives).

What other suspension mods do you guys have with the D specs that you find worthy to mention and what settings?

I am going to try mine slightly stiffer towards 617G's settings just to see I don't see why not... It takes only a few seconds to change back. I have a chart here that I'll compare spring rates to see if our springs are close too.

617G, where do you usually run your tire pressures and what sizes are you running F/R?

Did you get your sways before or after your shocks? I'm deciding whether or not they are worth the money since I don't hit the tracks.

i dont know the opinions of people who get sways after suspension but as for getting them before...they're great. the G handles turning so much more flat now and really causes the tires and suspension to do the work they are suppose to do.

i have d-specs dsp-7 with cobb springs, i plan to run them 2-3 turns from stiff, but like others i will not have them on until spring because i still need to buy cambers arms front and rear.
