Opinions on spring rates needed!!
Hey guys,
Just got new wheels on my car - 19x9.0 + 18 with 255/35/19 front and 19x10.5 +23 with 285/35/19 rear. I want to know what springs are the best to eliminate the wheel gap over the stock height and bring the tire right up to the fender line. I have an 05 coupe 6MT with sport package (higher spring rates). I also want to make sure I don't compromise any handling or really soften the ride that much. Is it necessary to keep the spring rates about the same as stock in order to accomplish this?
I've looked through the sticky but want the forums personal opinions. I know everyone loves the Tein springs, but they have softer spring rates so I'm hesitant. Any other economical brands recommended??
So post up opinions please!! I'm looking to close that wheel gap, nice stance, and keep the aggressive sport package ride.

Come on guys I've been reading through the sticky on here all day.... I'm just curious what setups everyone has (springs/shocks vs. coilovers) and how I can accomplish what I'm looking for. I want a ride that feels slightly stiffer than stock oem sport and would prefer to not have to dish out the full price of a coilover set. I intend on getting the rear camber kit and can do front if necessary but would like to avoid this.

Right now it's looking like a good setup that is close to the sport suspension feel will be over 2k after camber kits, install and wheel allignment. Personally I'm leaning towards TEIN CS or HKS LS. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

OP: Its going to be hard to get a drop that eliminates all the fender gap while maintaining a stock ride beacuse of the inherently short shock travel in the OEM suspension. Coilovers would be your best option. Tein Basics would be a good choice in this case. IF you are deadset on springs, then 350z S-techs would be a good option although there may still be some wheel gap, especially in the rear. A rear springmount modification may have to be performed to get rid of the wheel gap in the rear

Redlude, thanks for the info. Do the S techs have a similar ride to stock sport suspension? Some wheel gap is okay as I don't want to be scrapping everything. Ideally, I want to level the ride out so the rear sits about the same height as the front. Springmount mod would be fine. I know that S techs would need the front camber kit as well correct? For sure the rear...
I know the Tein CS and HKS LS are a great set up and are height adjustable. Are the Tein Basics ride height adjustable? I'm trying to keep everything under $1K, is this possible. Just need something that looks good on those new wheels!
Thanks for the inputs, keep em coming!

You can get a set of new plus a rear SPC/Eibach camber kit with the toe bolts for under $1k, and as long as you don't go too low in the front you should be okay without a camber kit, and you can eventually purchase one if you want to go earlier
Also what the heck is the difference between the Basic's and the CS since I know the Tein CS typically runs at around $1500?? Other than the fact that the Basics are not dampening adjustable. Just curious how the Basic's are so much cheaper....
Do you think going with 350Z Stech springs w/springmount mod and Tokico D spec shocks is better than the Basics?

I liked the ride comfort and drop that I had with my coupe when it was on 350Z S-Techs and adjustable Tokico 350Z D-specs (DSP-9). I did not need to do the springmount mod.
As lekker droom stated above, springs rarely sit even, so I changed to BC Racing coilovers (and since my G sedan needed new suspension which is where the S-Techs and D-Specs went) and the ride is essentially the same, but I can adjust the ride height and the dampers are adjsutable. You can get a set of BC Racing coilovers for about $1K shipped.
BTW, the ride in the sedan significantly improved with the D-specs.
