Rusted rotors

I just got new front rotor and pads and it seems like th inside of the rotors behind the wheel it is rusted. If you look at a angle inside the wheel you can see a layer of rust behind the rotor. I thought my rotors are new from speedy monroe? I know when you wash a car, the actually layer on the rotor where the pad meets gets oxidized, but it goes away when you drive the car. This is actually behind it. Did they not give me new rotors? Ill have to ask them. It seems like any other car I look at in parking lot, there not rusted. It just looks ugly if you go up to the front wheels you can see rust behind it like behind rotor on spindle also.

They may not have the coating that usually comes on the rotors.

Cheap rotors rust worse then rust its self. In the past, i bought some cheap ones and they literally rusted over night.

If you paint them first the area where the pad does not touch won't rust.

so what am i doing? There is nothing to do about it? Your saying take rotors off and paint them? I dont even think my stock rotors rusted when I had them. I dont know. So this is normal and wont effect anything?

As others have said, pull the rotors and paint the areas NOT touching the pad with paint. I prefer engine paint. It's heat resistant and tough.

probably cheap rotors with low nickel content etc that normally resists rust. As others have said paint em up.

Naw. If the rotors aren't zinc coated, they are going to rust.

The rust won't hurt anything. Some rotors are coated with a rust inhibitor and others aren't.

Scuss off any surface rust and use some high temp paint to coat the rotors. The pads will wear off any paint where the pads sweep, leaving everything else protected.

they make wheel clear coat paint, not sure if you need this or not. I wouldn't think so if you are just doing this for rust prevention.
