My front right brake has started to squeak, so I know it is time for new pads. I have had my G35 for two years and am yet to encounter this. Is it an easy process? I used to change my pads on my 94 Integra and was not bad. Any experiences you all could share would be great. Thanks!!

 

It's not hard at all.

IF the rotors are still smooth (so you don't have to get them machined) you can do it in less than 2 hrs.

Jack up car, put on stands (break the lugs first, leave them on just loose)

Remove the wheels.

Remove the two bolt that hold the calipers on.

Remove the outside pad.

Take your Disc brake collapsing tool (cheap at any auto parts store) and push the piston back into the caliper.

This tool:

Take off the other pad

Insert new pads

Replace in reverse order.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat on the other side.


You can get buy without the tool, but you will need a big "C" clamp to collapse the pistons.

Remember to "bed them in" properly when you are done.

 

Now you didn't say WHAT kind of brake you have....

Infiniti or Brembo? Year? Coupe/Sedan?

 

You are really helpful and I appreciate it. Not Brembo (factory I guess) the car is an 04 coupe. I bought it used last year. Does that make it an Infiniti brand?

As long as they are not gold colored and thy don't say brembo, you have OEM brakes. Actually the Brembo pads are even easier to change. There is a DYI on YouTube on it. It's not hard to do, If you have done a disc brake car before, you can do this one. Good luck and I'll be around if you need anything else.
