Tein 350Z H-Tech with Uneven Initial Drop.

After doing a reasonable search (5 tries) of the forums, I can't seem to find my answer, so I'll post my question.

I had the 350Z H-Tech springs installed this afternoon. I drove home and was impressed by the feel of the car (the progressive springs offer softer initial compression followed by good turn-in). After washing the car (to get ready to take pics tomorrow), I noticed the front tires seems to be sitting at different heights. I took measurements based upon the fender-to-tire gap (which I know is variable and not reflective of the suspension itself), but I notice a 0.25" different in the fender gap (the front left sits lower than the front right). So here are my questions:

Will this difference "settle out" after a week or two? Is it something I should notify the shop over or wait a week and see if their is a difference? Also, is measuring the fender gap a reasonable method to determine an uneven drop?

The car goes in for an alignment and new rear tires in two weeks, so I'll update if I get more information.

Thanks in advance.

it may settle but if not cut 0.25 off of the spring mount... or have a really fat person take a few rides haha

I have Z h-tech for over 2 months now, passenger side is still higher than the driver's side, the difference is 0.25-0.5in depending on how full my gas tank is.

I did measure the height a day later and found the drop had evened out (although I can't recall if I did get gas in the mean time).

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll need to measure the height differential with a full and empty tank to see if there is a correlation. That's a difference of about 120lbs (from full to reserve), which, depending on the spring rate, should be a very small difference. But you might be on to something.

that's corner weight. more pronounced when your gap is less.

it's normal for lowering springs. anything up to about 5mm is acceptable
limits imo for lowering spring setups. on my car the driver side is about
2-3mm shorter vs the passenger side.

this is where coilovers shine.

Agreed. Coilovers and a corner balancing would be great, but at out of my budget right now.

The car goes in for an alignment tomorrow, so as long as the camber can fall within spec, I'll be happy with the upgrade (for the time being).

The left and right side seem to have evened out. Like kenchan said, it's about 5mm differential (which could fluctuate with the amount of fuel, cargo, etc. in the car), so that seems acceptable.

Thanks for the opinions.

yah, my swaybar preload was completely removed today and it is now
dead even, actually on my car. no more than 1mm.

but again, i would not be surprised to see a difference of up to about
5mm on lowering spring-only setup's.

I had H-techs before coilovers and I never found the gap to be significant. BTW gas does not effect the balancing because even though the pump is on the right, (according to the service diagram) the actual gas tank sits in the middle of the car.

the funny thing is, the left and right springs are identical, but how come everyone found the driver side to be lower? my guess is even if you swap the left and right springs, the driver side will still be lower. so I don't think this is the spring's problem.

I guess I'll have to do some more investigation. I imagine the weight distribution from left to right is not symmetrical. Assuming the springs have the same spring rates (which they should), there is a difference in weight and I have not narrowed it down. I guess the search goes on.

Overall, the upgrade was still worth the time and money.

Ya, I haven't really checked up on this in awhile. I'm away from my G for a few more weeks, but when I get back I'll look into it.

I have different lowering springs on a sedan giving it and uneven drop. It's about .5" higher in the passenger rear corner.
