Compression Rod update - G35 owners

OK, went to the dealership and asked them to just merely check out my compression rods and specifically the bushings. Not only did they check them but they replaced them. The tech said it was totally normal since it was a known bulletin.

I urge anyone to go to the dealership and GET THIS DONE.

My front end is dead quiet now. They gave me no trouble at all, in fact, the just wanted to replace them rather than even bother with verifying if they were torn or not, like it was no big deal at all.

Yeah Infiniti service and yeah quite front end!

g35c, you need your wheels balanced. a bad comp rod squeaks/creaks over uneven pavement.

its like when you go over spped bump or drive on a angle in to your driveway it will make a weird noise. some people are claiming to just get new bushings installed from deal some get new compression rods.

anything rwd should get new bushings only. some awd will get bushings, others will get the whole rod. it depends on if theres rust inside where the bushing mounts.

Do people replace the bushings/rods just because of the sound that is produced? Or is there some mechanical danger/problem that may come up if they (rods/bushings) are left unchecked? I'm linking of getting bushings and replacing them myself. Thanks!

its not a safety issue, unless theres a catastrophic failure of that bushing or ball joint. you will need access to a press if you are going to rpl just the bushing.

deal will most likely replace the whole compression rod on each side pressing them out will probally cost more in labor

but its much less in parts, which is what warranty is concerned with.

I see.. so I couldn't handle it with a floor jack and jack stands? I'd need a stealer ship style car lift (press)? What do you mean by press, lol?

well 2 things, on many of the comp rods ive done, the bushing is seized to the stud, and i have had to either cut or torch them off. the other thing is the bushing is pressed in, thus you will need access to a press to get them out.

Nissan pays parts and labor to the dealers for warranty work, so their concern is the bottom line. Whichever is cheaper to do- less parts/more labor or more parts/less labor.

Also, for this particular job- at least on 240SX, 300ZX, and 350Z, they don't even sell the bushings to replace them- you have to buy the whole arm. They sell Nismo replacement bushings, but not OEM.

j 4 lD, he's referring to a hydraulic press. you use them to press the bushings into/out of the arms, not to jack up the car.

Something like this one:

Basically it's a really big vise that'll smash the sheit out of anything you put in it.

Is the noise different than the "Popping" that the roof/sunroof makes when turning into an incline/decline??????

Thanks
