Dealership Trying to Rip me off? Brake Problem (rotors)
I went to the dealership on Friday because I heard a noise from my rear drivers side wheel which sounded like something was rubbing against my rotor as a drove at slow speeds. I went there and they checked it out and found that my passenger side rotor was cracked from overheating and said that someone drove with the E brake on which caused this therefore they cannot cover it under warranty. I told her I am the only one who drives the car and this cannot be possible, she ignored it and quoted me $550 to replace the 2 rear rotors this includes the $75 "inspection" fee since it wasnt a warranty issue. My car is a 2007 G coupe with 12k miles. Also the cracked rotor is on the opposite side of the wheel where the noise is coming from, so I dont even know if it will fix the damn problem. What should I do?

Find a trusting shop to do the work
my dealership just told me that my rear brake pads were out and the rotor needed to be re-surfaced i asked what about the front and he said the front was fine, then i said fronts always go out befor the rear and he gave me some bs about how its a rwd car... i just LOL and walked away
he wanted 450 for just the rear I had my auto shop class do front and rear for 200

Well technically it might be possible to heat the rotor up pretty good if the ebrake was left on. It might depend on WHERE on the rotor all the heat marks were. If it was on the rotor surface, then it points to a stuck caliper piston. Which would make it a warranty thing.
IF the ebrake was actually driven on, an inspection of the ebrake pads would be in order. Also the inside of the brake rotor would be very heat marked and I suspect the pads would be all worn out.
I encourage yourself to become knowledgable about the inner workings of your car to prevent dealers from turning warranty claims into the more profitable customer paid repair work.
