My two front tires look like 'Feathered Wear'. I have done nothing to the car, it is stock. What caused this? Report attached

 

There is a TSB that toe should be the maximum value to prevent tire feathering. It should be set at a total of 0.08 in. Each side should be 0.04 in.

Camber is just barely out of spec and I wouldn't even worry about it tbh. Your right rear toe was way out though, that will definitely cause excess tire wear.

 

Hi fellas, I really appreciate your help. I just bought new front tires and get an alignment report, attached. I looks like the front is out of the specified range.They recommended a 'front adjustable control arm $1188. So, it is two of the adjustable camber kits from the first image?

 

Yeah but I definitely wouldn't be getting that Truhart brand, call up Z1 Motorsports (or check their website) and get their adjustable FUCA. The only part you need for the fronts is the FUCA.

 

Last question. I found your Z1 control arms. Do I need the spacers like in the attached?

Don't get the race version, unless you WANT solid joints.

 

These are SPC arms, if you want positive adjustability, these are a good option. I have these on my car. The Z1 version won't give you much positive adjustability.

 

They quoted me $1200. I think they are using their new titanium ones from SPC. I have found the above for 1/2 the price, so a decision to make, then find someone to install and align them.

 

Do you have the TSB number for this? I looked for it at infinitihelp.com and didn't see it. I have a 2006 coupe. Does this TSB apply only to 2003-2004?

 

The TSB was originally for the 2003 350Z, it was later amended in 2005 to include all years of 350Z and G35, it was never released as a separate TSB for the G35. It was also never amended a second time to include the 2006 model year nor the 2007 coupe but it still applies to anything that's a V35 platform. The feathering was more prominent on the 19" wheel equipped models with the sport rubber. Basically what happens is the suspension flattens out at highway speed and toe becomes out of spec while traveling. To compensate then shifted the total toe to the maximum value on the alignment rack which gets toe within spec when you have aerodynamic force pushing the front of the vehicle down when traveling at highway speed.

For the life of me I can't find that TSB but here's a snipped I saved in my G35 documents folder that I pin to my alignment spec sheet when I take the car in for alignments.
