is 1.7 degrees of neg camber too much for the front tires? i have the spc front a arm kit, but i didnt put the hub spacers on yet cause i wanted to see if i would really need them or not. i think my other front is just under 1 deg neg camber. i have the arms maxed out. i guess my options are to install the spacers to get them both in spec. or add a little neg camber to the other side so they are even at 1.7 deg of neg camber. what do you guys think? more than likely ill be going lower later on sometime.

 

Tires are designed to operate over a range of -0.5 to +0.5 camber. Extra negative camber is dialed in when the suspension design cannot maintain these ranges under cornering loads.

 

ok, but ive heard some guys asking for 3 deg of negative camber at alignment shops on fairly dedicated track cars. i understand i wouldnt want that much, but is 1.7 going to kill my tread life?

 

on my alignment sheet oem specs are between -1.2 to +0.3. i would think -1.7 shouldnt kill your tires badly.

i would also like to know if -1.7 or -2 is bad.

 

ill check my alignment sheet when i get home on friday, it has the oem spec window on there as well. but if my memory serves me well, i think it said what you have there. honestly, id like to be at about -1 on both sides. -2 is getting pretty extreme though, at least for me

-1.6 is still ok for the front, i was told this by the place i got aligned, the rear is -1.8 for an ok range

 

My fronts are at -1.5 because I was lazy and didn't put the SPC spacers in and after about 4k I can see that my tires are wearing uneven so I'll be putting the spacers in and fixing the alignment.

 

^^its not just the neg camber messing with your tires, toe has more of an effect on uneven tire wear

 

ya -1.8 is still within spec (-1.9 to -0.9) for the rear, so that should be ok for good tire wear.

 

1.7 is not a lot for the fronts. Just make sure the toe is within spec (as minimal as possible).

My car was aligned and the only thing not within spec is the front camber.

 

im having a similar problem. my tires are wearing down on the inside track of the tire. so do i need to go with a positve degree of camber? also can i do this with the stock arms or do i have to buy the camber kit from stillen or wherever?

 

i have -1.8 with in spec toe and the insides are worn almost bald in ~9000 miles. i'm goin to reduce that to 1.5 or lesswith my next alignment
