Strut bar

Got me an 06 coupe, 5/16 MD spacer, z tube, and no engine cover. Wouldn't fit with the cover on. Have heard of some that fit and some that don't... Have no clue what the reason for this is, but mine would not fit. As of now the bar rubs the hood liner, and is a lil less then a 1/4 inch above the plenum for any engine movement. Any lower and the bar will hit a lil on some bumps for me.. Car handles a bit better, so no complaints.. Can deal with the slight rubbing. Now I got some clunking coming from the front of m car.. Got some spl compression rod bushings and lower control arm bushings coming, hoping this will eliminate my problem..

^Yup. I got the GT Spec also and the front end definitely feels more solid on turns.

^my only gripe with the strut bar installed is that it rubs against the fire blanket sheet thing under the hood that says FRONT MIDSHIP ENGINE. its leaving marks on the bar. I dont want to take the engine cover off so I cant lower the strut bar any further, guess I gotta deal with it

^^^ in that case; removing the hood liner is an option.

The rear one really also makes a difference. I had issues with it loosening up and until I fixed it, I would really notice the rear flex, because the bar was working itself loose on one end. All-steel lock nuts fixed that issue. Same thing I did with my lower front sway bar end links, where the Derlin lock nuts would eventually also need to be re-torqued.

Once it was locked down tight again, much less flex. Besides the trunk and door openings, if you have a sunroof you may notice some sounds up there when you really flex the chassis. The bar eliminated almost all of that. Just be prepared to give up some trunk space...and if you go with the Stillen brace, you will have to drill a few holes. No big but some people freak over that kind of stuff.

Do you have a plenum spacer, and if so, what kind/thickness?

Thanks in advance.

It's VERY cheap compared to the other bars out there and it makes your engine bay look a bit nicer. Could always spray paint it chrome too. Ended up getting it used for $100 off someone on here. It does what it's supposed to do fine. Good construction.

Surprised that no one really likes this bar very much lol. I've got an 03 Sedan and on the driver's side I had to unscrew and move the coolant hose brace out of the way, but I don't think that'll be that much of problem. Fits with a 5/16 spacer easily even with engine cover on. Not too sure about the 1/2 because it might rub against the engine cover. It touches the insulation, but not by much. No closing issue either.
