Stillen Sways Med/Med - New End Links Needed?
Stillen Sways Med/Med - New End Links Needed?
ladies and gents,
the stillen sways were my christmas gift to myself bc i am selfish and spend more money on my car and booze than i do anything else. but i am single so no family to worry about. wait, maybe thats why im single? irrelevant...
do i need / would you recommend new end links when installing the sways? I have 68k miles on my '05 sedan (put 30k on it since march highway driving ... got real lost one day). I haven't even looked at them to check their condition, but I was thinking of just getting some new "revised" '05 OEM end links from riverside. Any thoughts / suggestions - should I even replace them?
I am not lowered, suspension is stock, so it pretty much everything else that is relevant to this. i did search the forum for a while about this and pretty much everyone gets off topic about how totally awesome their new springs are or how super totally sweet their whatever is. you get the point. cheers.
thanks

IMO you don't need to upgrade. At stock ride height, you haven't changed the geometry at the end links, which is normally what puts strain on them, more so, I think than the extra stiffness of the sways themselves. You haven't said whether you are tracking the car; I'm assuming not, so you should be fine.

You can re-use the stock bushings (I did) or go with aftermarket polyurethane bushings for slightly better performance. I don't know the part numbers, but I think they're posted somewhere on this site.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I have the Hotchkis sways and didn't replace the endlinks. My car is an 05 as well with 65,000 on the odometer. I would've replaced the bushings if I had gone with the Stillen but the Hotchkis came with new ones anyway.

Been running Stillen on Med/Med on my coupe since summer of '07 and have had no issues with end links so far, though I've only put on about 15k since then. Still using stock bushings, though thinking of trying the poly bushings one of these days.

cool thank you sir, helps to hear of others that have been running stock endlinks and bushings. why you thinking of getting new bushings now?
i've got some prothane bushings on the way so if you want some old stock bushings i'll attach them to a dove and send it your way

I put on new stock bushings when I installed the sways, so those should still be in good shape, but thanks for the offer. I was thinking about trying the poly bushings to stiffen things up a bit. Though with D-spec shocks/struts going on in the spring, I probably will hold off for a while.
