Maybe you guys can help... before i start taking things apart!

First of all. my pads and rotors are not even 4 months old.


I got in my car this morning and while driving... it was fine. The second i engaged the brakes, i heard a faint "WHUUUURRR" from the front of my car, which appeared to get louder the faster i was going (when i engaged the brakes) and how hard i engaged them. When i drove it around for a little... it didn't happen every time. It happened.... 1/2 the time when i engaged the brakes.

I also heard it while braking & turning at the same time.


I inspected the rotors and my drivers side seems to have a deep groove on the outer part of the circle... so i am assuming that maybe a rock or something got stuck in between the pad and rotor?

Im going to pull the caliper & rotor apart tonight but i wanted to see what you guys suggested first. I read online that it may be a wheel bearing.. and to check, i should jack up the car and see if the wheels move in/out at all.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

 

did you ever figure out what caused the sound? it sounds like something i'm going through right now. i'm suspecting the bearings but not too sure.
