brake squealing(fixed)

my front brakes were squealing so i cleaned all parts of brakes and it's gone lol.but now, i THINK i ended up with another problem. My brakes don't stop my car as well as before. By any chance, is this caused my putting too much grease on shims? Maybe there's grease floating around between the caliper and the shims. If so, then i'm guessing it'll go away soon and brakes will work as good as before...am i correct?

ALso, i did not clean my rotor because i wasn't sure what to use. Do i use brake cleaner that i used it to clean brake parts? or soap and water ok?

I have a brake squeal that will queak faster and faster depending on my rate of front tire speed.. Then once I apply the brakes it turns into a constant squeal.. My brakes are fine life wise. BUT just recently like you said I have noticed a very noticeable decrease in stopping power. I havent cleaned anything though.

Time for new brakes!

That would be my concern OB, are you very sure it's not the wear bars making the noise you're experiencing. Unlike brakes on most cars, our rear pads seem to wear out before the fronts....strange I know! Check your pads....

I was experiencing the same problem as officerdbag, the faster the front wheel turns the more youll hear the squeek or chirp noise loud. I changed all the pads and rotors and the same noise is still there!

the sound was definitely from the front, but they seemed to have gone away after cleaning the parts. cause the parts were full of dirt

did you put grease behind the pad where the caliper/piston pushes it?
