Review: MDU Coilovers
People switch it out....to go lower. For adjustability. For track and auto-x purposes.
The list is a mile long for why you WOULD want to get rid of the oem suspension.

yeah, Nissan is going to do what's cheapest and most easily reproducible for their stock configuration, that doesn't mean it's the best because it came from the factory that way. They have a whole car to make..
Aftermarket companies do R&D over a single part.. Trying to improve the performance of a single aspect of your car.. I'd think the ones that succeed could provide better functionality over that certain functionality.

how are you enjoying yours ?
<shrugs> going a different direction I guess
this is the first set of coils I've ever had so I really have nothing to compare them to.. I defintely think they're better in the true coilover config to reduce the bouncing of the rear end.
Based on what I've heard of other coilover owners, (even of different high end brands) the rattling at slow speeds is normal.. That'd be my only complaint.. And everyone doesn't seem to have that issue. I've heard some owners say they experience no rattles at all.. I am just very particular, and have sensitive ears. I've also experienced intermittent popping in the rear driver side, but I don't know if that's specifically the coils since I haven't gone back there and checked it.. Could be something else. Other than that, they're fine w/ me. Definitely a smooth ride..
I'm also pretty low to the ground, so some of my complaints could probably be resolved by raising a bit and not putting so much stress on the suspension..

@Skyline, 700 for coils is an excellent deal period when considering all the competition is higher priced for like performance.. Of course w/ other brands, you can get other features, but the coils themselves are pretty similar in build and function..
@Blue Dream, Yeah, that I know of it was for various reason though, not just because the coils were bad.. R1 went air susupension, and so did Jackus.. They're doing that more for show points and to graduate to higher mods.. Brit went back to springs, and I'm looking to go air ride as well eventually. E-Ban sold his G all together and got an M3.
If there are others, I'm sure they had their reasons. I'm sure every brand has people that could give good and bad testimonials, everyone's experiences are different.. I don't think the cause of folks moving to another route of suspension is a testament to there being a defect in the overall brand, or the product lacking as a whole.. But like I said, I can only voice what I've heard and my personal experience. I think folks are just determining what route their builds are going and aligning their suspension w/ their specific needs and visions..
But that's just my point of view.

Sorry I was slow to respond.
Yes, I went back to springs. I am getting prepped to do some auto-x and the MDUS were not going to feel right. However, for the price they were nice. Tony summed it all up nicely with his response regarding others selling theirs.
In my opinion they are great for show, but not as much for performance. They can hang (i have definitely tested them), but its not the feel that I wanted.
For the record, I believe that most of the SwangNBang guys are still running them. But, they are all show so it makes more sense.

When I had mine, I had no complaints. I didn't have any noise except for scraping the ground cuz of how low I was. I only went airride because I wanted to go lower but the slope to get in my garage is about a 30-40 degree and with the added 1" lip into the garage it was impossible to get in without the use of 2x12s. That got old. Real quick. I also plan on some cf parts down low and don't want to screw those up if I don't have to. I want all my body pieces touching the ground. Lol
