Tip off
For coupe pirate builders who installed their own. Did you replace the crispy gasket that was mounted between the rear car body mount point and the top of the pillow mount?
I trimmed clearance with a razor for the 3 small cap screw heads and valve stem but re-used these 'tan color heavy plastisized paper' gaskets. The gasket must bear weight and load then release some friction if left metal to metal contact. If the hard gasket is not used than could it be the mystery sound.

Vin..Ahh red coilo'ers.. Ye be thinkin' to get a room now, me heartey! aargghh you'll learn to luv em'.

Just a suggestion to think about for your upcoming 03 sedan body drop project.
All this is depending on wheel / tire set-up you have or will change to.

Right away; The rear fender inside flanges must be rolled and slight pull as part of the roll.
Fronts most likely will not need any rolling initially or ever.

Try to keep the 03 sedan fender heights at 25 1/2" above slab for a serious 2 1/2" drop from OEM.
That is 4 3/4" running clear under the rocker panels.

It is a driveable set-up. Measure your (4) fenders on level slab before jacking the G35 up for the install. Write down the measurements to keep a sense of how much adjustment you'll want to finish with. Expect the settling after the install to be less than 1/2".

Rear toe bolt replacement and slotting of the rear frame where the bolts mount will be needed to save feathering the inside rear tire thread.
Fronts are not as critical for tire feathering but camber arms are optional and with 2 1/2" drop even though negative camber is mild it is recommended as part of the suspension mod just to have control of your alignment/tracking if issues in the future become a need. Plenty of threads here discuss those parts and costs.

Have fun with it and learn!

thanks for the help i do have some questions first to i need to/should i replace
my shock mounts?

also i hate to dissapoint but i just bought brand new OEM sized tires so im gonna stay at 17" but will most likey get XXR 521's or XXR 006 (i know not many people will like this lol FLAME SUIT) but for a while they will be on OEMs like the pic in your OP do i still need fender work with 17's? also if i eventually push em out some with spacers what would you suggest?

For installation im going to need a spring compressor correct im asking because i need to know if i have to go to my uncles garage for this.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out i really appreciate it you have no idea
