Smoke from brakes?

Hey guys.
I got a 05 g35x sedan.

Today my rear driverside brake was smoking. It wasnt on fire, but a steady stream of smoke could be seen. I could literally see smoke coming from the caliper and pad area. What could the problem be???

Most likely a seized caliper. Its smoking because the caliper is always putting pressure on the pad and keeping in constant contact on the rotor. Would probably get that looked at soon before you need new pads on that side or a new rotors.

I was assuming the same thing. How would I fix a seized caliper? Can I just undo the caliper, pins, and pad and grease it up with some brake grease?? Would that do the trick??

Also the rotor was hot! I would spit on the rotor and it would turn my spit into steam as soon as it touched the rotor.

Check the rotor for severe overheating (blue spots). If so you need to replace them.

I drive in the Raging Bull Texas Stampede each year, so as a result of my preparations for that event, I flush my brake fluid, and clean and grease the calipers when I check the pads and rotors each year. It only takes an afternoon and it gives you a lot of peace of mind.

How many of you have EVER changed your brake fluid?

I change mine with every pad change. After my caliper seized within 6 months of ownership, it was aware to me that the previous owner hadnt changed the fluid at all.

I flush mine every rotor change - at least once a year.
