Compression rod ball joint bushing

Help...!!! Please.... Just pulled the compression rod out of a 2003 G35 M6 and found what appears to be an aluminum tapered bush rather permanently fixed to the ball joint spindle. The new rod doesn't have this so i either have the wrong new rod or the bush is removable. I couldn't see any mention in any of the posts about this tapered bush nor could i see it in any parts diagrams. I've worked at it with a puller but doesn't seem to want to come off so not sure whether to keep trying Thanks guys...

I just changed one of my compression rod bushings, and IIRC that tapered aluminum bushing on the ball joint end was loose. I would get a little more aggressive with it to get it off.

Great Eric thanks... That's all i need to know. I guess it's corroded on. As an aside, I really think the clunking noise in mine is coming from slop between the rubber bushing and the threaded spindle/stud on the car. The rubber bushing end just fell off the stud by itself and it seems as if the stud is undersized. I can also see wear marks on the body above the joint and on the frame surface indicating that it has been moving back and forth. All that would stop it from moving is pinching it when you tighten the nut.....and i don't think this will last indefintiely. The stud can't wear so have to think it's made like this....and i presume all of this generation were... Thks again... Gary

Is the compression rod also known as the rear lower contol arm? (on front suspension)
I can't find anything called a compression rod in the parts catalogs.

1) please stop giving people advice. the compression rod is not called a rear lower control arm.....the compression rod has nothing to do with the rear

2) the bushing is removable so no need to freak out

you know, it's funny, here at the dealership we've heard it called everything, rear lower control arm, that boomerang shapped thingy, the curved arm.... we usually can figure out what they want by then
and the bushing is actually sold seperately from Nissan 54570-AC70A

You should do a bit more research before you pass judgement....and learn to read......and look here... http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-RIGHT-...item41619cfb9f The guy specified for the "front suspension" and he's right.....it's sometimes called a lower control arm rear...for the front suspension.

For the love of God there is no such thing as a rear compression rod or a "lower control arm rear..for the front"....It's called a compression rod, that's it

If you want to rely on a random Ebay vendor with an IQ of a sack of doorknobs for what parts are called than that's your prerogative. I prefer to rely on the Nissan factory Service Manual

If you look up the front suspension on Infinitipartsusa.com they will call those two parts the front lower control arm and the rear lower control arm.

That can work. A small pitman arm puller from Autozone makes quick work of it too.

Please see Infiniti Parts' USA's page for the compression rod

http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFINITI-G35...ht_1174wt_1110

they specifically state, and I quote, "This is the center arm on the vehicle, NOT to be confused with the control arm. This is NOT a control arm, this is a COMPRESSION ROD.
We are not responsible if you order the incorrect suspension arm."

Any ways, i'm done with this thread. Feel free to order any part you want, but don't be surprised if you happen to get the wrong product
