Whats up guys just recently purchased a 2004 6mt g35 coupe. It already has as an exhaust and intake. I would really like to lower it. I just want to know what are some things to look out for when going through the process and what are the best coilovers. I know that's a pretty broad question especially on a forum lol.

 

I don't have coilovers but I do know if you just want to lower it I believe you can just get springs which will significantly cut costs... Hope that helps!

Don't use the term best coilover, that makes no sense. Some of the more popular choices are BC and Stances, that can give you a starting point. Go search instead of making another thread like the 100 other asking the same thing.

the BEST coilovers are ones that are for sale and lightly used. sometimes its sketchy buying used suspension parts as you are buying on the sellers word on condition. But coilovers a big investment if all you want to do is lower the car. you can get lowering springs for 200-300 all day long but more often than not, you'll end up with a bouncy sub-par ride if you dont research the proper setup. I waited until the right pair of used coilovers came up locally and snagged a nice set of HKS hipermax RS's for $1000 with only ~3500 miles on them. steal of a deal and I LOVE them. ride is great, handling is dramatically improved and the car feels all around more controllable. You just need to think about what you really want out of it and how much you're willing to spend.

 

Recently purchased a g35 coupe and I need to lower it lol. My previous car was a Honda civic and I lowered it on coilovers, and its an easy install all Honda are almost the same way. I am leaning towards K sport for my g35 coupe and was wondering what exactly to buy? Is just but the coilovers and throw them or is there more to it. Thanks guys

 

Why are you desiring to lower your car? What are you looking for? (looks? performance? comfort? feel? what are you willing to sacrifice for price?) Maybe you should look at more reputable brands, like koni, bilstein, or kw?

 

Since I'm learning about this stuff, slowly, can someone point me to a thread that explains what coilcovers are? I'm trying to search Google but all it flipping shows me are the engine bay style coil covers not the suspension type. <------ if I'm even referencing the right part of the car, FML.

Why are coil covers so freaking expensive?

 

Because they are a complete suspension replacement. If you were to replace the suspension in all 4 corners with OEM parts it is not going to be cheap, so if you want to use aftermarket performance parts naturally they are going to cost more.

You can get a set of coilovers for under $2g so it's not that unreasonable.

They are adjustable height suspension. A tool is used to adjust the ride height.

He's just saying the truth... Imagine how annoying it is when you have every new "owner" comes on the forums asking for "the best _ _ _ _ _".

It gets tiring answering the same question over and over again.

Also your word "best" is very subjective. and because you failed to outline what you really wanted with your set up. i.e. comfort, performance, how much you want to lower, how much you want to spend etc.
Without even the basic information above, how can you expect us to help you.

Maybe you should take a look at the faqs page on suspension.

There is a comprehensive guide on almost every coilover made for our car.

Instead of bashing on members who are only here to help, why don't you take a second and actually look at what the forum has to offer.
Instead of us throwing names at you, you'll probably find your answer faster that way.
