Pagid Oranges were reccomended to me by stoptech for a solid track pad. I've heard that BHP XPS are also pretty good for the money. Just a note though, I tracked my '05 and cooked my rear brakes after too many hot laps. Even with a better pad, you may still boil your fluid. If possible, get an infrared thermometer and measure your rotor/caliper temps after each session. Start of with shorter sessions, measuring your temps, if they're fine, stay out longer, if not, let it cool off.

I used the Pagid Orange on my last outing to Laguna Seca, on 14" rotor StopTechs, and they were very good. However, even using braided stainless lines and Motul 600RBF, the pedal got spongy on one of the sessions. After a cool off and some pumping they returned to normal, so it was just a heat issue.....coming over the top of Turn 1 and getting to 130mph before getting on the brakes downhill into the Andretti Hairpin really will put some serious heat into the brakes there! Fortunately you only need a slight tap to settle the front going into turn 3 and again at turn 4, and a good cooling spring up to turn 5 before getting on them, and even there it is not a long brake run. Then uphill to 6, a short tap and another long run up the Rahal Straight, so more good cooling. Then the Corkscrew of 8-8A requires a good hard straight brake, a tap going into 9, a longer brake but high speed sweeper of 10....and another hard slow going into 11 at the beginning of the front straight. The PO held up very well on the fronts (Axxis Ultimates on the back) and the performance was markedly better than running Axxis all around---indeed I would not track the car with the Axxis, as they cannot handle the demands and will heat spot and melt on the rotors up front.

I'll probably take my car on the track one more time with the stock brakes. Then I'll probably go this route.

I don't think this kit will work on an '05. I've still been searching for some good track pads. Anyone found any for stock '05 calipers?
