Dilemma: manual or auto

Although I do agree to some degree, because I wish I had a MT.
This is my first auto, and for an auto it is great.
Like everyone has said.....do what is right for YOU.
For me.....it is the difference between "driving" my G.......
and "steering" my G.
With the auto, all ya gotta do is steer.
However, my G is my play car and my daily driver ....is an automatic Subie Outback.

MT - if you plan on having fun with the car.
AT - if you plan on just commuting.
but whatever you do, try driving the MT 1st so you know what you're getting into.
I came from MT and drove AT for the last 3 years and now I have the 2005 MT and absolutely love it!

WOULDNT IT BE BETTER FOR YOU TO HAVE THE 6MT TO HELP KEEP YOU FROM NODDING OFF IN THE MORNING TRAFFIC???
I've own both manual and auto before. It's like this, if you using the car to commute and know you will get in traffic every day, I suggest an auto. If you get manual, then get another car for commute.
6mt definitely fun to drive, but stuck in traffic, isn't very pretty. I wish i had an auto when I get in traffic, but on weekend when I take it out for a ride, I wish i had manual

The reason most cars are sold with Automatics (in the US anyway) is that people are LAZY! People want to be able to drink their coffee and talk on their cell phone and read the paper - they don't want to DRIVE. Ask yourself why all rental cars are Automatics - because they're easy.
It's actually depressing to watch as more and more manufacturers get away from offering manuals - which is why I love Infiniti. Just because it's a luxury car doesn't mean it can't be fun. Why would you buy a sports car and not get a stick? Every time I glance in a Miata or Corvette and see an automatic I cringe.
As for me, I'll be driving a stick until the end.

Get the 6MT.. it was my 1st manual and no regrets
a 5at is much more safer than a mt for people who aren't good at judging speed and revs. the mm has a built in safety where you can't downshift at a certain speed. saved me a lot of trouble. but as for performance, of course there is a little difference. but human error makes up for the mt vs mm most of the time. also passengers play a factor. if your gunna have a passenger in your car, 5at will be much more enjoyable due to less jerky shifting. I'm 19 and I drive a 2003.5 at sedan. friends make fun of me for getting a 5AT but in the end, I'm still driving a G and they roll in a honda civic=)
