Has anyone leased an Infiniti using the VPP?
Hi,
I'm looking to lease a car in the next month. I'm eligible for the VPP program through my company, so I should get a haggle free predetermined price. However, I'm just worried that the dealer might pull a fast one on me by adding some extra charges, lowering my trade-in, etc. (sorry, no offense if you're a salesman, but you know this can happen). So I wanted some advice on the type of things to watch out for.
If you can please share your experiences and thoughts on the process, or can give any advice or input on leasing using the VPP, I'd appreciate it.

I leased my '04 coupe through VPP. It's a very straight forward process if you're dealing with the right dealer. I had a dealer (won't mention the name) try to tell me that I was getting VPP, even after I provided the VPP #, but did not provide me the form to fill out and was not giving me the VPP price. So I went to a dealer that "really" did accept it. They will tell you the price, which should be about $300 over invoice, if you have Plan D. If you have a better plan, then it should be cheaper. Check out the formula on the VPP site. They will have you fill out a form that states you're receiving the VPP pricing, which they will send back to Infiniti, so they receive their incentive.
Now, one thing you need to watch out for, since you're leasing is that they don't have to give you the best money factor. So, before going in, find out what the money factor is for that car and term, along with the residual. Then calculate the payments based on VPP pricing, and see if that adds up to what they are quoting you. It should be to the cent! That is the only thing they can rip you on. As for your trade-in, that has nothing to do with VPP, so they can do what they want.

My purchase price including taxes (I live in Illinois where they tax the whole amount): $47,355 ($44,465*6.5%)

Purchase Price incl. Taxes: $47,355
Residual: 69% ($33,430.50)
Money Factor: .00125 or 3%
Lease Term: 27 months
Down Payment: $3,500

I dont know about the going price for the FX35 is, with that VPP pricing you got it for 350 above invoice? that dont look all that attractive, unless the gerenal going pricing for FX are much higher.
The sales tax should not apply to the depreciation amout of the car when you are leasing, unless the tax law at your State are different, you should be only taxed on roughly 8k not on 44465, and you are only finance about 42k, why you base the finance charge on the amount of 77735? but your M/F and residual are good.
Oh yeah, you didnt include the DMV fees and wheather that 3.5k down includes the first payment or not, but your payment base on your selling price/MF/residual should be around 420/mos.
