2005 G35 6MT pearl white coupe... thoughts?
Hi everyone,
This is my first post here on this forum, I currently have a 2007 Honda Fit Sport and it is aftermarket turbocharged... I made 175whp/165 torque and the car weighed in at 2380lbs
Enough about the Fit tho, its getting sold and I am going tonight to look at a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT in pearl white. I am from Canada so the pricing may differ from what most of you in the US see.
I have only been able to find 2 pearl white G35s for sale in my area.. the one I am going to see tonight is from a dealership. The car looks to be in mint condition, it only has 56,000kms (~35,000miles) on it. It does not have navigation, but is loaded and comes with the 19" stock wheels.
The only things I don't really like about it is that it is lowered, the G35 looks low enough as it is to me.. and I don't know how it'll ride, but I will find out. It also has an aftermarket cold air intake.
They are asking $27,999 CDN or $24k USD.... I know its on the high side, but I think they are willing to drop in price considerably.. maybe 2-3k..
Is this a good deal? when looking at the car tonight (in 2 hrs) what should I look for? any info would be very appreciated.. I tried to search a bit, and all I could find was uneven rear tire wear (seems common) and oil in the #6 plug area... anything else?
Thanks in advance!

Considering that prices on the G's seem to be rising again -- albeit not by much -- I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask for $2K off their asking price. But hell, push for the $3k, knock that total down as much as you can!
As far as what to look for .. Make sure you eyeball every inch of the car. Take your time. If they try to rush you, tell them to shut up and that you'll take as long as you like. Make note of every blemish, inside and out, no matter how minor it may seem. Little things never really do show up on camera, so while the car may have looked mint in photos, it could be a different story in person.
Some things in particular .. Ask if they know if the car has had any oil consumption issues. When you're sitting in the driver's seat for your test drive, rock side to side and listen for any creaking. Make sure the windows roll up and down without any sign of strain. And since the car you're looking at is lowered -- see if any camber kits have been installed, because they should have been, otherwise you're going to face even bigger issues with uneven tire wear. And make sure the intake is legit.
That's about all I can offer from my own personal experience, having bought my G in mid-March.
But on a 'personal advice' kinda thing .. I wouldn't buy anything that I wasn't 100% happy with. You're putting out a significant chunk of money, and for how much you're paying, it's worth it to wait for a G to come along that is EXACTLY what you want. I had to wait months for mine, but it was worth it. Don't shell out that much cash if you're gonna be saying to yourself -- damn, I wish I'd held out just a little longer, cause then maybe I could find one that wasn't lowered!

I just bought virtually the same car from dealer in Florida, picking up thursday yahoooo!!! Anyway 05 white g35coupe manual 29k loaded with everything but nav as well. If it has the 19 inch wheels then it has the sports package which i think makes it a little lower, firmer ride than not. anyway I am getting it for 19600 which i think is a steal but i think there is a TON of room for them to move on 24k US. If you search autotrader.com, cars.com and carsdirect.com you will see there are numerous couples out there in the 20k even range. You might be suprised and find similar car in your area with those search engines. Hell print some of that stuff off and bring to dealership. Make sure you get to see the carfax or autocheck report as well.

Congrats on getting yours! The dealer I went to last night had the car conditionally sold based on financing approval...
Oh well, it wasn't meant to be... I am now in talks with a dealership about 600 miles away, they have a 05 G35 Coupe 6MT in pearl white, 29k miles. Loaded withouth nav, sport package with 19" wheels.. 1k less than the one I was going to look at last night.
I'm just waiting to hear back on some numbers and we'll see if this deal goes through!
Thanks again for all the tips!

ebay white 06
Hey man i have watched ebay for a couple of months. This white coupe has been on there for quite some time. Keep an eye on this one it looks good, dealer might be willing to make a deal, look up shipping for you. You might be able to have it including shipping for cheaper than you were looking at (24k) I previously ran a carfax on it and it is clean.

Well been in more talks with the dealership that is 600 miles away, I've recieved a plethora of images to show all the flaws etc.
There are a couple things, but knowing that the original owner of this G35 coupe was a female realtor some of the damage wasn't a surprise... 2 of the passenger side rims have a bit of rash. There's a place in my city that does refinishing and repairs for damages like this at a very low cost so these don't bother me too much. The only other problem really is that the passenger top right corner of the bumper had been repainted.. i don't know by whom, but if you look and stare very closely and really look for it, the color doesn't quite match up. I suppose these are minor blemishes that can be repaired later by myself if they really do bother me that much.
Apart from that, I haven't test driven it yet, but there is still powertrain warranty remaining since this car only has about 30,000 miles on the odometer and it looks very mint.
My question is, if I were to ever replace the front bumper or just repaint the whole thing and then 3M cover it, does the 2006 front bumper clip right in?

I also got the same car. Same everything. 16.9k. They wer asking 19.9k originally.
My advice to you is to look at the paint closely. Swirls and light scratches are hard to see in direct sunlight in Ivory Pearl. Check for rock chips in the front. Since it is lowered, look for abnormal tire wear.

Well I'm heading out tomorrow after work.. going to check out the car on Saturday.. The deal is 23k CDN, or 19,500 US. This is after tax, doc fees, etc.
Anything in particular that I should look for when doing the walk around and on the test drive?
