Purchase or Save?

Hello all,
First off, im a first time buyer looking for a new car. I've always been using my dads Toyota camry 2005 and it's always been a goal of mine to own an Infiniti g35 coupe.
I've been looking on websites like kijiji and autotrader and I've found some people selling 03-04 versions of the car for around 3000$ (lowest) and 20 000$ (highest) but obviously the higher priced ones are lower on mileages.
It's not really in my motive to spend 10000$ on any used car. so I've been debating on getting the 3000$-5000$ ranges on the car. However these ones have at least 180 000-250 000on their mileage and I'm not really sure if I should purchase it. Any advice? What would i potentially need to look out for when buying such a low priced g35? How much would I have to spend on maintenance? What do I need to maintain? Any info would be appreciated. Again, if there are tremendous potential problems, I can always save for other cars. My end goal is to get one of these cars and maybe mod it and keep it for at least a few years until I want another car.

This is not the car for you. Never buy an old "Luxury" car unless its something you plan on keeping.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You will have things like $800 tire replacements that make it hard to consider buying an older model car. The 3-5K sedans and either moderate condition or rebuilt titles. I would avoid buying a G in this price range.

If you want one bad, spend your money working towards a good job and then when you can afford it buy the one that is the right choice.

My question to you is? Why would you want to spend so little on a car you want so much. If you plan on keeping it for quite some time than spend the extra money. Later on down the road you'll be glad you did.

$3-5K cars don't maintain like $3-5K cars. They maintain like the $35-40K cars they were when new. That's one thing that a lot of buyers overlook when they purchased a older, well-used luxury car.

Odds are once you buy the car it will need another $2K in maintainance anyway.

Plus then do you really want to mod a car with 180,000 miles?

An accord or civic or Camry etc is the smarter choice here. Their ex-l models have the same "luxury" as us anyways
Same difference

I did one better and made sure I dated a chick who made either the same, or more than I did.

Also take a look at VGHCX. That damn fund has been pulling down a 17.4% annual average since 1984. Last they blew it out of the water at 28.52%. It's high risk, but high reward. If you have time on your side, I think this is a freight train that will pay off for years to come.
