Looks like a neat trip along that side of the St Lawrence, but Yikes , looks like you have succumbed to that ride on the Ferry.

We will be going through Grand Falls (where we stopped for lunch on the last EC trip) and then on to Mt Carleton (highest mountains in the Maritimes) and then for a drive along the Acadian Coast then down to Campbelton for July 1st at the rendezvous site. Thanks for the travel tips Shane .

I'm not sure what everyone has in mind for QC when we get that far.
This isn't far from QC, if anyone is interested. (you can see QC in the background of some pics)

Montmorency Falls

Yes, sounds good to me.

Heather and I have been there before but many years ago.

Been part of that route before a long time ago. Couldn't possibly recall anything meaningful for you Ian. Sorry.

Sounds like a good tune up for the Gaspe Wayne. You and K will enjoy it. Barren country and lots of black flies still this time of the year.

Mount Carleton....lots of memories and stories to tell from there. We've snowmobiled that area extensively many times and right to the very top to the weather station. There are loads of places to run high speeds there - what we called "handle bar heaven" (pin the throttle to the handlebar) as snowmobilers. Stayed at several of the lodges there overnight as well. I've got some incredible pics there from the top and the ascent but my scanner has decided to stop working. I've run my ATV some up there too.

Hey, it will be great to create some more memories with all of you folks soon.

Thanks Deane. Mt Carleton sounds like an awesome outdoor playground. I can hardly wait to check it out.

That place looks beautiful Ian. Anissa and I have never been there so we'd definitely be up for it.

Wayne, after 90 minutes of f****** around with my scanner I got it working.

Here are a few pics from one trip to the top of Mt. Carelton by snowmobile. The pic of H shows no snowmobiling allowed on the trail to the top which of course we ignored. It is extremely steep, rocky and dangerous getting up there. The girls didn't get their machines all the way up. I broke one of my front skis going up and had to jury rig it with nylon ropes to get back down the mountain to the nearest transportation station close by. fortunately had welding gear to temporarily weld a rod to tie the two skis together. that allowed me to drive the 80km or so we needed to get home. I have pics of all of this but won't bore you with it all. Hope you enjoy a couple of these.

Jeepers, that is awesome. Looks like a fantastic view from up there. Sounds like quite the trip you folks had up there
.
Thanks so much for posting those pics Deane.

I really didn't know of Mt. Carelton until Shane mentioned to me in a PM that it would be a neat place for K and I to check out on our way out to the A Coast since we will be up a few days early.

Boy am I getting pumped for this trip Only a couple of more days for us.
Gotta get out the Dancin Man, Go Dancin Man Go. Oh Ya !!!

Haha, love that dancing man!

These were taken in '96- not sure why the date stamp said '87 on the one. Yes, we had just so many incredible memories traveling around there. It's a rugged area known for logging, fishing, hunting. Elevation of Mt Carleton is 820 meters. Cape Breton claims the highest elevation in Atlantic Canada at 554 meters but clearly that is wrong.

We just started digging out some stuff to go. I have a busy schedule this week so won't have time later on. You guys have a great trip.

Edit: Wayne, just a heads up-The last time I drove through the Mount Carleton area from Bathurst about 8-10 years ago-highway 180 it was a lot of gravel road. It's basically a logging road. It might be different from the San Quentin side or paved now.

Problems, problems, problems

Too much stuff to fit in the trunk.

We are packing our bags today. I told Karen my cleaning supplies take priority over the clothes, ouch, she was not impressed with that statement

We are travelling for 11 nights, I don't know how it is going to fit
We have some eliminating to do. So far we have:
-the cooler (a must have on a trip)
-my wash pail full of cleaning supplies
-4 small suitcases.
-a few bags of stuff
-couple of light jackets
-camera bag with accessories
-small rubbermaid container with miscellaneous car stuff

I still have to test fit this stuff in the trunk

TO BE CONTINUED......................................... ..........
