Ok. First thing first, your insurance rate here will always be higher than ICBC (or whatever it is called i forgot) in BC especially at younger age. If you are a University student. I think TD bank has a Insurance company that offer student discont to University student. The price is pretty reasonable compare to other insurance company. I do not have their phonenumber, i just know they are under TD Bank. Try call TD and find out what's the insurance company's name and phone number. Good luck.

www.monnex.com is the TD company you're thinking about. I know they have discounts for graduates, not sure if you're still in school.

Not telling your insurance company is fraud, but I'm sure many people get away with it. They probably won't find out, but if you get into another accident and they do find out, then you're in bigger trouble.

Hey dude. Well firstly u don't have a coupe, only a sedan, so of course your rate will be lower. However I cant see your rate being any less than $4000.00 a year, if u are the primary driver. Unfortunately your age says it all. It sucks I know!

Has anyone here tried RBC Insurance? I'm 25, clean record and paying only $1700 on my G35C. It's cheaper than I was paying on my 2002 Toyota Celica GT!

Re: [GTA] insurance company

Sorry to say but you guys are getting hosed....I am in Edmonton....25....1 accident....04 Coupe.....1400 per year.....melloche monex insurance....i do get a significant discount there (so i should be lower) but you guys are insanely higher.
They have different group plans there.....for different types of university grads.
I hate to make you guys feel bad but those numbers made me cringe.

Re: [GTA] insurance company

My friend firstly thats somewhat hard to believe and yes its a great premium that you are paying such a low premium. Im very surprised b/c to me that sounds insanely low. I have never heard of receiving INSURANCE discounts if u are a GRAD etc. That does not make any sense to me. The only discounts available are by the car manufacturer etc..and only those types of GRAD programs. However you cannot compare the rates of EDMONTON to TORONTO. Toronto is a world class city with greater population with different parameters etc. obviosly the rater are going to be higer for a TORONTO resident than an EDMONTON resident. Its like saying that the standard of living and living expenses are much cheaper in Edmonton also. You just cannot compare. I happen to be one of very few individuals who pays approximately $3000.00 per year, and thats as low as it gets, but most people at 25 are paying above and beyond $4000.00 per year as a TORONTO resident. My premium is a bargain for a Toronto resident.

Re: [GTA] insurance company

I am 25, I am a primary driver, I live on my own, and yes it is an 04 coupe that I am talking about.....Sorry to hear that you have never heard of incentives for graduates....I assure you it is true though. They have a group plan, or so i was told by the agent. I have been with them for a few years now.
I wasnt trying to directly compare our rates, but i was trying to say that yours sounds high. (To me anyway)

And about your little comparison of Edmonton and your world class city over there...................
I agree that stuff is a lot more expensive there.....but to pay 2-3 times more for insurance than i do caught me by surprise. I guess i learned how bad others are getting the screw job.

Re: [GTA] insurance company

TorontoG35C, it's true that melloche monex giving student discont, believe it or not. I know this because many of my friends are under the TD insurance company (melloche monex) and do receive student discont, and the rate is less than most of the insurance company after the discont. (They are all primary driver, a RSX and a TSX) I personally made a call to them and confirmed that they DO have student discont (i forgot if it's 5 or 10%, i was asking it for my friend) And they offer one of the best rate in Toronto area (if you are a student)

Re: [GTA] insurance company

Thank you neohh...Thats all I was trying to say....I am a grad and also a member of APEGGA so my discount is a little better than that...but the facts are the same, they give a VERY good rate if you qualify.

Re: [GTA] insurance company

No problem radjack. I'd like to add one thing though, we're here to share information so everybody can get the best deal out there, not to compare and show off who got the best deal and objecting others' experiences without even look into it. Me myself did not qualify for the student discont so i didn't go with that company (many of my friends do though, becuz they are here by themselve and they are UT students), and i'm 21 with one major at-fault accident few years ago, i'm paying around 3K also. (With family discont, we have 3 cars in my household and that makes it cheaper, but i'm the primary driver for the G35C) But i do know TD insurance company (melloche monex) offering university student discont, and their rate is significantly lower than others if you are a student and is a primary driver (i don't know about family discont or group discont though). For those who qualify the student discont i really do recommend you to get a quote from them.
