I've been reading many articles regarding the new legislature about street racing. here is one of them.
That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard.
So if you add an intake and a K & N filter you must be a street racer.
Just be careful out there guys, or maybe it's me that should be carefull. They may be looking for cars to make an example of.

Bryant's comments on modified cars seem to suggest Ontario's liberal
government is exempt fromthe Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which
states: "Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or
seizure."
It's not known if Bryant's latest comments are an accurate reflection of
Canadian or Ontario law, or if police will use this apparent power, but it's
clear Ontario's police are getting tired of dangerous driving.

high speeds and unsafe lane changes we have seen recently,” Ontario
Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino said in a recent press
release.

They're blowing smoke. It's the equivalent of arresting a guy coming out of the beer store for drunk driving. Not gonna happen.

There was just an article the other day about how they were crushing cars in CA. The problem was not just street racing but a lot of the Honda guys have other oem Honda parts like motors and trannys from other cars and if the VIN's come up "hot" they will crush the cars.

The government is way off base with their threat.
Gee, I sypathise with what they're trying to achieve but to go to those lengths is going way too far......

I'm not a big fan of this whatsoever, given that no crime has been committed yet. If however someone has had a history of street racing, I am all for crushing their vehicle.......as per my comments in the thread in the OT section on this topic. here.
But in the end, I don't see how the gov't has the right to destroy someone's vehicle solely based on what parts it's made of.

I didn't read the Record article, but in my view it's ridiculous for another reason - so it's illegal and a crushable offence to hop up your '89 Civic to make 150hp, but perfectly legal to drive a 500+ hp Z06 Corvette?? I don't even really agree with crushing a car for having stolen parts on it; it's just stolen property. They don't burn your house down for having your neighbor's hot big-screen TV in it, do they? Enforce and punish harshly the offence -- street racing -- not the parts, not the intent, but the crime itself.

As to the crushing of the hopped up stolen parts street racer cars I liked an idea someone posted. Strip the hot parts out and sell the cars to others with the money going reduce govt debt. or for accident victims. That would be good punishment.

A lot of administrative work, I suppose, which might make it less than practical. Too bad.

I call complete BS on this the goverment should not take these mesurements to try to put a end to street racing. i would understand if you were caught in the act but attempting to crush your car without you even doing anything wrong is most def. not fair. i say ALL modded cars in toronto should meet up at once place and drive the speed limit on the highway and then we will see where this sterotype will go.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't know if it's 100% true or not but it's just something I've heard. Either way it's BS.
