My wife's 2005 GC also has crazy seat heaters and I believe the back rest also has them which is good for your back at times. In the coupe, I can leave the passenger one on during the commute to work with no one riding and I'll touch it--barely any warmth is felt. I may take in to the dealer.

^ i could be wrong, but i think the seat-occupancy sensor is for air-bag purposes only...and i'm not sure if the G has those.
