Compression rods replaced

All knocking is gone!
Damage-parts $364 USD shipped from Riverside
Tax and Brokerage $90
Labour 1.5 hours $125
Total $579, say $600 CAD for both sides. Far cry from $800-1400 quoted by local dealerships.

Glad it's fixed for you.

Seems like a predetermined eventuality for the G35.
...What mileage did it happen at?

Will the coupes suffer from this too?

who did you get to change your compression rod? Were the parts used or were they brand new? I am just ordering some compression rods, Front driver side motor for the window and the clear bumper lights.
Thanks

I am at 80K km. Replacements parts are brand new. Install was done at Silverstone Automotive-they are close to my work(Creditstone just south of Rutherford) and I do not see need to be fussy for such a simple job.
I love my car again!

Just wondering if we can establish some sort of guide as too when these begin to fail.
IIRC Sam's (Whatacar) were at +100km

mine gave out between 45k and 50k km, but pretty much all my bushings gave out. i think it has something to do with road conditions.

i kinda wish i had learned about ordering from riverside prior to ordering the replacements... eh well, what's done is done, next time, i'll know better.
(summer tires finally going on today, and a fresh alignment, sweet.)

Here's my dilemna, is there any way to know when your compression rods have gone? I bought my car used, so I wouldn't know how it felt like to begin with. I have been in new coupe but once again, that was no good because the roads in Oakville are brutal. I am at 75k, bought it at ~65k.

I am under warranty, so would it be beneficial to have the dealership have a look at it?

I am in the same boat as anotherOAKg. How do you know when these things need to be replaced? My warrenty ends this year and I would like to get everything fixed before it runs out.

When your compression rods are gone, trust me, you know. It's an obvious noise; very clunky/banging type that happens in front going over smaller bumps.
I had mine replaced under warranty at 85K KM.

so the noise only happens when going over a bump??

there is "click click" noise coming from my front wheel every time i turn my steering wheel slowly but NOT when i go over the bumps..

this almost makes me wonder if it has something to do with my front brake sine i always brake when i turn... can anybody give me some ideas?? this "click click" noise is driving me nuts since day one i bought my car...

Are you able to tell if they need replacing by inspecting them? hmmmm I hear banging I think, but I thought it was a result of me lowering my car.
